SUPERSTAR DJ/PRODUCER AVICII TO BE FEATURED IN VEVO’S ‘LIFT’ PROGRAM FOR EMERGING ARTISTS

VEVO launched the worldwide premier of the video to his worldwide smash “Wake Me Up” last month. “Wake Me Up,” the biggest single in the world right now, has sold over 2 million copies worldwide and has gone #1 in 70 countries. Written by 2x Grammy nominated Avicii, vocalist Aloe Blacc and superstar guitarist/writer Mike Einziger (Incubus), “Wake Me Up” has turned every preconceived notion about electronic dance music on its head with its driving beat, rousing arrangements and uplifting melody. The track is the first single from Avicii’s highly anticipated September 17th album TRUE, on PRMD Records/Island.

TRUE (September 17) Avicii’s first full-length album debut, was recorded in Los Angeles and Stockholm and spans an unprecedented and unanticipated breadth of musical styles and sounds. TRUE encompasses tracks featuring performances by Dan Tyminsky of the Grammy-winning bluegrass band Alison Krauss & Union Station, L.A. rock band Blondfire, Swedish pop singer Linnea Henriksson, big-voiced West Coast vocalist Audra Mae, and singer-songwriter Salem Al Fakir, the voice on Avicii’s international 2012 hit “Silhouettes.” Legends like Chic mastermind Nile Rodgers (who produced Daft Punk’s ubiquitous 2013 single “Get Lucky”) and country-pop star and songwriter Mac Davis (author of such Elvis Presley hits as “In the Ghetto” and “A Little Less Conversation”) contributed their collaborative talents.

“This album really changed the way I think, the way I see music,” said Avicii. “I worked with all these people from different genres. They all bring their own influences into my work and it’s so interesting to hear what comes out.”

Avicii is well known for his international mega-hit “Le7els” which conquered club charts worldwide, racking up over 40 million YouTube views, and “Silhouettes,” which netted 24 million views. Last year Avicii rocketed to the #3 position on DJ Mag’s yearly poll of the Top 100 DJs after three years of performing and was ranked #2 on Forbes Most Powerful Artists Under 30.

Avicii is the face of Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren which has been a true creative partnership between Avicii and the brand. He starred in the Denim & Supply campaign in 2012 and spring of 2013, and co-produced the video for the remix of his hit “Silhouettes” which Ralph Lauren debuted last fall. Avicii’s newest video “Wake Me Up” was produced and co-created by Avicii and Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren and directed by acclaimed photographer Mark Seliger. The video was world premiered on VEVO and features the free spirited aesthetic of the Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren brand.
