(Los Angeles, Calif., June 6) SESAC Latina celebrated the worldwide successes of its songwriters and publishers at its annual SESAC LATINA MUSIC AWARDS last night at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. SESAC Latina, the music rights organization, presented its performance awards, television awards, and top honors to its affiliate songwriters and publishers.

On hand to present the awards were John Josephson, SESAC’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer; Sam Kling, SESAC’s Senior Vice President of Creative Services; andCeleste Zendejas, Director of SESAC Latina.  In Zendejas’ remarks, she said, “Today, SESAC Latina celebrates 25 years of this award ceremony recognizing the compositions of our affiliates that achieve success in radio both in the United States and worldwide. You are all the reason for this celebration. ”

During the evening, SESAC executives gave a special thanks to the event’s sponsors, City National Bank and Sound Royalties.

2019 SESAC Latina Music Awards Winners

SESAC Latina affiliate Nicky Jam received top honor as Songwriter of the Year for some of Latin music’s top hits that he penned.  In the category of Song of the Year, which is determined by the longevity of a song’s presence on the charts, the SESAC Latina Award went to “X”, recorded by Nicky Jam, and co-written by Jam and Juan Diego Medina. In addition, SONY/ATV Sounds LLC was named Publisher of the Year.  Accepting on their behalf was Jorge Mejia, SONY/ATV Latin’s President.

Actuaciones de Banda Los Sebastianes, Valentino, Angela Aguilar, and Leonardo Aguilar

Banda Sebastianes kicked off the evening performances with their award-winning song “En Vida,” and Puerto Rican singer Valentino followed with “Besame” and “Tu y Yo”.  Mexican superstar and GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY nominee Angela Aguilar delivered an incredibly powerful rendition of “Bésame Mucho”. Her brother Leonardo, also a Latin GRAMMY nominated artist, surprised the audience with the performance of  “Tu Mendigo Recuerdo”, a song he wrote for his new album.

Latin GRAMMY® winner Enrique Bunbury was honored with the SESAC Latina Icon Award for his contributions to Spanish Rock. The talented singer-songwriter has released ten studio albums which have incorporated a diverse array of influences including traditional Latin, blues, flamenco, arabica, cabaret and tango. His latest work “California Live !!!” compiled recordings from several unique evenings in California, as part of the tour “Expectativas 2017-2019”, which brought Bunbury across Europe, the U.S., and Latin America in a total of 77 concerts.

Additional winners on hand to celebrate included Christian Nodal, DVLP, Luciano Luna, Mauricio Arriaga, Danileigh, Fernando Corona, and others.

NEW ALBUM FROM AVICII: TIM IS OUT TODAY

AVICII: TIM, an album of new music from acclaimed producer/musician/songwriter and performer Tim Bergling, is out today. AVICII created groundbreaking performances that became the gold standard for timeless electronic music and defined the sound and structure of the global EDM movement.  When announcing his retirement from touring, he wrote: “I will however never let go of music. I will continue to speak to my fans through it.” And most assuredly, that is what he is doing on TIM.

Bergling’s new music is as fresh and inventive as ever and continues his legacy as one of the most beloved and respected figures in music. SPIN Magazine wrote in their new cover story which comes out today, that “TIM underscores Bergling’s longstanding mastery of effervescent, indelible melodies while also reflecting evolved influences, song structures and ideas. It is at once quintessential Avicii and a slick, smart evolution of modern dance/pop music. “

Before his untimely passing last year, Bergling had completed several of the 12 tracks on TIM, including “Heaven”. Tim and Chris Martin wrote and recorded “Heaven” in 2014, with Tim producing the final version in 2016 – it hasn’t been touched since. With the exception of the last verse which was added after Bergling’s death, “Heart Upon My Sleeve (feat. Imagine Dragons)” was finished.
Other tracks were 90% complete and final work on them was performed by a trio of production teams who had collaborated with Bergling through his career, co-wrote many of the new songs with him, and closely followed the detailed instructions he had left behind. “SOS (Feat Aloe Blacc)”, has amassed 250 million streams globally since release last month, peaked at #3 on the Spotify Global Top 200 chart and tops the BBC Radio1 A-List chart and Billboard’s Dance/Electronic songs chart, as well as reaching #1 airplay in Germany, Netherlands, and Sweden.

Avicii’s net proceeds from the album will go to the nonprofit Tim Bergling Foundation which benefits organizations that support mental health issues, suicide prevention and education, wildlife conservation and other issues that Bergling had an interest in and passion for.

The much speculated upon final track listing for AVICII: TIM, due June 6, is below. TIM is the first album of new music from Bergling since his unexpected death last year.  Work on a few of the tracks had been completed but several more needed final touches.   Bergling had left very clear notes about how he wanted to finish the music and who his production partners should be. Over the last year, we’ve heard so many stories about how music connects people and helps them heal. We saw that Avicii played an important role in people’s lives all over the world. He was there when one fan met her future husband at Ultra Music Festival and his music was a constant when two best friends traveled coast to coast on their first ever road trip. The stories are endless.  Strangers online became friends because they found common ground in the spirit and melodies and rhythm of Avicii’s music.
Listening to music can be a powerful source of inspiration and comfort but it isn’t enough. It has become important to us to release this new music with a focus on connection and the ways we can come together, be part of a community and feel less alone.  So we have created the AVICII Cube campaign.
AVICII Cubes will be situated in each of six cities around the globe.  When you put your hand on the illuminated screen, the Cube is activated and searches for another active Cube somewhere in the world. When that connection is made, both of you will listen to the same clip from the album.  You’ll be sharing that listening experience with someone half-way around the world, connected forever by Avicii’s music.  In a hectic world, we want people to take a quick break from their busy days for a powerful moment of music and connection.
There are cube installations in six cities around the world; Sydney, Tokyo, Stockholm, London, New York City and Sao Paulo. Banda Los Sebastianes is an ensemble band comprised of eighteen multi-instrumentalists and singers and are known for their high energy performances and diverse musical genres including cumbia, ranchera, and salsa. The large, ever-evolving band came together under the direction of composer, singer, and songwriter Armando Paul Celis.  Based in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico, the bands diversity and adaptability has helped them reach a wider audience and earn a huge fan base. Puerto Rican singer Valentino spent over a decade as a member of the Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Magnate & Valentino. He broke out as a solo artist with hit “No Llores Más”, and its subsequent remix with Nicky Jam and Ñejo. Valentino dedicated himself to touring in different countries as United States, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Panama, Colombia, among others. In 2017 he released his single “Bésame” which features another SESAC Latina artist Manuel Turizo. Recently he released his hit “Tú y Yo” with Nicky Jam and J Quiles. For Valentino, the key to his success has been his romantic style.

Avicii’s “Tough Love” from the upcoming album TIM, is out tomorrow. Produced and written by Tim Bergling, Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir (Vargas & Lagola), the track stays true to the infectious nature of Avicii’s dance smashes and his desire to discover new sounds. 12 MIDNIGHT CEST, 6:00pm ET.

Al Fakir and Pontare are longtime Bergling collaborators and worked with him on “Silhouettes”, “Hey Brother”, “Without You” and more. In the Spring of 2018, after Tim had been exploring music from northwest India, he played a melody loop for the two. “Oddly enough, the Indian influences fit perfectly into a song we were working on, something that was so typical of Tim” says Vincent Pontare. “He was a melodic genius.”
Tim was extremely particular about vocal sounds and phrasing. He always heard the finished result in his head, and then in the studio, he coached guest singers on how to produce what he was hearing. In his notes Tim wrote about “Tough Love”: “This one needs to be a duet. Coolest thing would be a real couple. Or a couple that have worked together enough to be almost considered a couple!”
When Tim died, the recording was 80% completed. Adhering to Tim’s wishes, Pontare asked his wife, Swedish artist Agnes, to sing the song with him as a duet (Agnes had a Top 3 UK track and a #1 track on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs).
“Tough Love” is the latest track to be released from TIM. When Tim Bergling passed away on April 20, 2018, he was close to completing a new album. He left behind a collection of nearly finished songs, along with notes, email conversations and text messages about the music. The songwriters that Tim was collaborating with on the album have continued the process to get as close to his vision as possible. Avicii’s net proceeds from the album will go to the non-profit Tim Bergling Foundation and the purposes it will work for, among other things, to prevent mental illness and suicide.

“SOS (Feat. Aloe Blacc)”, the first track to be released from the upcoming Avicii album TIM,is out today. Sleek and modern, the song is built on Aloe Blacc’s soaring voice and a dually spare and brightly layered pop production from Tim Bergling, Albin Nedler and Kristoffer Fogelmark.

When Tim died in Oman on April 20, 2018, the music was 90 percent ready. “Afterwards, finishing them was … I just get paralyzed by talking about it, but everything was about completing Tim’s vision,” says Fogelmark.

And so they began. Through the program Fruity Loops, Albin and Kristoffer were able to track and preserve Tim’s exact keystrokes. “He had a completely different way of playing piano and keyboard,” says Nedler. “As a result his fingers would sometimes strike an unusual key, which added to his unique sound. Tim’s fingerprints are literally across the entirety of “SOS”.”
In the personal notes recovered after his passing, Tim wrote that he wanted to work with Aloe Blacc, the vocalist on the giant hit song “Wake Me Up”, so they invited him to record.
Said Blacc, “I feel like SOS was a song that was probably ahead of its time for when he wrote it. He wrote these lyrics obviously about some of his battles and I think it’s a really important topic to approach and to share, especially with his visibility and his access to ears and hearts. To give people the words to be able to say ’I need help.’”

Avicii’s Team Announces New Music

When Tim Bergling passed away on April 20, 2018, he was close to completing a new album. He left behind a collection of nearly finished songs, along with notes, email conversations and text messages about the music.

The songwriters that Tim was collaborating with on this album have continued the process to get as close to his vision as possible.

Since Tim’s passing, the family decided not to keep the music locked away – instead they wanted to share it with his fans all around the world.

The single ”SOS” will be released on April 10 and the album, titled ”TIM”, on June 6.

Avicii‘s net proceeds from the album will go to the nonprofit Tim Bergling Foundation and the purposes it will work for, among other things, to prevent mental illness and suicide.

(March 26, 2019) – A year after his passing on April 20, 2018, the Tim “Avicii” Bergling family are starting a foundation –the  Tim Bergling Foundation – in his memory.
The foundation will be everlasting. It will initially focus on supporting people and organizations working in the field of mental illness and suicide prevention.
Other areas in which it will be active are climate change, development assistance, nature conservation and endangered species.
The foundation’s objectives may be pursued both in Sweden and abroad.
Tim wanted to make a difference – starting a foundation in his name is our way to honour his memory and continue to act in his spirit.
