DIMITRI THIVAIOS (ONE HALF OF THE CELEBRATED ELECTRONIC DUO DIMTIRI VEGAS & LIKE MIKE) LANDS KEY ROLE IN JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME TOPLINED FILM “THE BOUNCER”

LOS ANGELES, CALIF., (Jan., 17, 2018) – Dimitri Thivaios from the internationally acclaimed electronic duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike joins Jean-Claude Van Damme in the action-packed thriller “The Bouncer”. The two Belgians have been close friends since Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s “The Hum”, which Van Damme starred in alongside Charlie Sheen. “The Bouncer” begins filming at the end of this month. This is Dimitri’s second casting in two months. In December, it was announced that he had been cast in George C. Romero’s film “Rise of the Living Dead”, the prequel to his father’s (George A. Romero) legendary horror film, “Night of the Living Dead”. Belgian fans will also get to see Dimitri & Mike Thivaios on the big screen when the film “Gangsta (Patser)” hits theatres January 24. The brothers star in the Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah-directed story, who has been named one of “10 Directors to Watch” by Variety.
 
Continuing their success on the music side of things, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike teamed up with legendary film composer Hans Zimmer on  ‘He’s A Pirate’ for the soundtrack of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have also collaborated with the likes of Ne-Yo, Diplo, David Guetta, Kiiara, and most recently Steve Aoki and Abigail Breslin (Oscar-nominated actress) for their momentous collaboration “We Are Legend.” The brothers have scored three No. 1s on Billboard’s “Dance Club Songs” chart and were the first-ever duo to be named No. 1 DJs in the world by DJ Mag’s annual Top 100 Poll.
 
With more exciting acting parts and projects coming up, he’s also even fallen in love with voice acting, after he took on the voice-over role for the Belgian version of Disney’s blockbuster “Big Hero 6” where his performance was so well received they asked him to reprise his role in the 2018 follow-up TV Series. Read more on his IMDb page.

JARIPEO SIN FRONTERAS is a mega show featuring Pepe Aguilar’s performance on horseback for the first time in two decades, as well as Mariachi star Christian Nodal. Following in his father’s footsteps, Pepe will take the third generation of Aguilars on the road: his children, two time Latin Grammy nominee Leonardo Aguilar and the beautiful and charismatic Angela Aguilar. Aguilar made his performance debut at Madison Square Garden at the age of 3 performing on horseback with his father Antonio Aguilar who, with his family, toured the entire American continent with the Espectáculo Ecuestre Internacional and Rodeo Show.  It was the first equestrian show in the history of Latin show business, built around various life stock disciplines with horses, bulls, buffalos, monkey’s, and more.  “It was like a Ringling Brothers Mexican Style.  He even had folkloric ballet.”  It was one of the most successful shows of the time.  Don Antonio, Señora Flor Silvestre (both parents were acclaimed actors) along with little Toño and Pepe Aguilar changed the direction of Mexican music forever and became a standard by which the genre was judged.   
 
“My father’s career was a great inspiration to me,” says Pepe.   “Antonio Aguilar risked everything to dignify Mexican music in countries that were not his.” 
 
Pepe Aguilar went on to become one of the most important  performers/producers/songwriters in Latin music, selling more than 12 million albums, earning 15 #1 records and numerous awards including four Grammys and four Latin Grammys and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, next to his father.  He has collaborated with artists such as will.i.am and Julieta Venegas.   Aguilar picked this moment to reclaim the traditions of jaripeo for himself, his family and his fans.    
 
As a 1 time National and 5-time state charro champion, Aguilar has had this in his heart forever. “My family and I have that same feeling of pride around our traditions that my father had.  It’s mine and it comes out of conviction and a place of being completely convinced of what I’m doing. And I have rights to the tradition.  This is what I was born doing, and what I want to take to the next level,” he said. 
 
The young star Christian Nodal has managed to win a large audience with his fusion of mariachi and norteño.  His international hit “Adiós Amor”, which won “Favorite Song” at the Latin American Music Awards, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s “Regional Mexican Songs” airplay chart as did his other hit “Probablemente”, featuring David Bisbal.

The result is an emotional ride of a tragic yet beautiful love story. From his current EP ‘AVĪCI’, the track features low-timbered rock and roll artist, Billy Raffoul.
 
Made entirely in 3D, Avicii and directors TNT, created characters that never physically move, only their poses and expressions tell the viewer what is happening. The transitions from one scene to another happen off-camera, but seeing these moments in sequence create the full story. Lastly, the color Palette of the film is very minimal, with most of the imagery being completely white-on-white with accents of red and black.

MIAMI, FL (Dec. 15, 2017)- The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation® announced today that it is accepting applications for the Carlos Vives Scholarship from music students accepted to Berklee College of Music, who are interested in Latin music. The four year scholarship, which holds a maximum value of $200,000, will be awarded toward a bachelor’s degree.
 
Singer, composer, actor, businessman, and 11-time Latin GRAMMY® and two-time GRAMMY winner Carlos Vives, is one of the most emblematic artists and one of the most important figures of Latin music. With more than 20 million records sold worldwide, he is considered a pioneer of the new Colombian and Latin American sounds. “The ability to support a new generation of Latin musicians brings me great joy,” said Carlos Vives. “Being able to do this alongside the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation makes this even more special.”
 
The Carlos Vives Scholarship presented by the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation was created in an effort to support music education and the Latin music genres and will be awarded to a student who is exceptionally gifted and needs financial assistance to continue their education. DIMITRI THIVAIOS OF DIMITRI VEGAS & LIKE MIKE FAME IS THE FIRST CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT MADE FOR GEORGE C. ROMERO’S “RISE OF THE LIVING DEAD”

The prequel to George A. Romero’s legendary film
“Night of the Living Dead”
LOS ANGELES, CALIF., (December 8, 2017) – Dimitri Thivaios from the internationally acclaimed electronic duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike is the first casting announcement to be made for George C. Romero’s film “Rise of the Living Dead”, the prequel to his father’s (George A. Romero) legendary horror film, “Night of the Living Dead”. See Romero’s casting announcement on Facebook today.
Dimitri has been cast in one of Romero’s favorite roles in the film, he says, although he’s keeping the character announcement close to his vest for now. This is yet another role to add to the roster of Dimitri’s budding acting career. He’s made some remarkable television cameos and was cast alongside his brother Like Mike in the upcoming “Gangsta: The Movie” by Adil El Arbi & Bilal Fallah (named in Variety as one of “10 Directors to Watch” + directing “Beverly Hills Cop 4”). With more exciting acting parts and projects coming up… he’s also even fallen in love with voice acting after he took on the voice-over role for the Belgian version of Disney’s blockbuster “Big Hero 6” and will reprise his role in the 2018 follow-up TV Series. Off the back of an impressive run in 2016/2017 with two No. 1hits on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs Chart – including their Ne-Yo collaboration “Higher Place” and their Diplo assisted “Hey Baby” – the duo most recently released “Complicated” with David Guetta and Kiiara. The single has garnered over 59 million streams on Spotify, 36 million views on YouTube and is currently No. 3 Billboard’s Dance Chart.

‘Despacito’ Co-Writer Erika Ender Nominated for ‘Song Of The Year’

LOS ANGELES, Calif., (November 28, 2017) – Songwriter/performer Erika Ender has been nominated for Song of the Year for “Despacito” for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. This is the first time in history that a song written with mostly Spanish lyrics has been nominated in this category. If Ender should win, she would be the first songwriter born in a Latin American country to so. Erika was born in Panama City, the daughter of Panamanian-American father and Brazilian mother. She was in Brazil when she heard the news of her nomination.

 
“I’m so happy to be part of this moment in history, along with my music colleagues and friends.  This is a confirmation that music is universal. It doesn’t matter the language. What really matters is to do things straight from the heart and connect with other hearts, even other cultures, and bring the world together,” she said.    
 
It has been a huge year for Ender. In just the last three weeks, she won the Latin Grammy for  “Song of The Year”, she was named to Variety’s inaugural Hitmakers List as a vital player in the success of “Despacito” and she was nominated as “Secret Genius of The Year: Female” and “Secret Genius: Latin” at Spotify’s 2017 Secret Genius Awards, where she performed alongside Shawn Mendes, Halsey and PARTYNEXTDOOR.  She’s been featured in the New York Times, Forbes, the Los Angeles Times, Vibe, LA Weekly, CBS This Morning, ABC’s “Nightline” and more.
 
Ender is now tied with Mariah Carey as the female songwriter with the longest-running No. 1 hit of all time. She’s now also the first female songwriter to have a Spanish-language song top Billboard’s “Hot 100” chart.
 
In October, Ender was inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame, where she stands out as the only woman in her category, and the youngest in history to ever be inducted. To date, Ender has released five studio albums, and songs that she has written are included in more than 160 albums. At least 40 singles penned by Ender, have reached the top of the charts throughout the world.

Ender has been the winner of the industry’s most important awards, including the Latin GRAMMY, Latin Billboard, Monitor Latino, SESAC, ASCAP, among other awards and nominations.

 
She founded the organization Fundación Puertas Abiertas in 2009, which uses music and education to positively influence children and teenagers. The foundation began by working with children who’d escaped child labor. Through a partnership with another organization, Ender’s foundation offered musical workshops and opened a classroom where music and dance was taught to children living in shelters. Erika was invited to speak about her advocacy at the recent Social Good Summit, produced by Mashable, United Nations Foundation, the United Nations Development Programme, and the 92nd Street Y.
