MICHAEL JACKSON’S THRILLER 3D – WORLD PREMIERE AT THE VENICE FILM FESTIVAL 2017

Los Angeles, CA (August 7, 2017) – Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D, long rumored and highly anticipated by fans, will make its world premiere at the 74th Venice Film Festival 2017, announced the Estate of Michael Jackson today.

Creating Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D, the original iconic short film, directed by John Landis and written by Landis and Michael Jackson, was not reedited or recut in any way.  Rather Optimum Productions brought Landis in and together they supervised an elaborate and labor intensive process that began with the original 35mm film negative from Michael’s archives and resulted in a 3D conversion of the acclaimed film using the latest available technology.

To complement the enhanced visuals, all of the audio, including Michael’s music, Elmer Bernstein’s score and the sound effects, has also been updated to  5.7, 7.1 and Atmos standards in order to create the highest quality audio and visual experience for in theater viewing which is how Michael and Landis intended the film to be enjoyed.

In making the announcement, John Landis said, “I am so happy to have had the chance not only to restore but enhance Michael Jackson’s Thriller! We took full advantage of the remarkable advances in technology to add new dimensions to both the  visual and the audio bringing it to a whole new level.    Even though Thriller was shot traditionally, I was able to use the 3-D creatively.  Let me just warn you, there is a rather shocking surprise in there!”

John Branca and John McClain,  co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson said, “Michael Jackson  made Thriller a rich theatrical experience:  fun, funny,  scary and wildly entertaining.    No one before or since has made anything like it.  Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D is a modern day technical enhancement of his and John Landis’ original vision,  and I think fans will love it.”

From the beginning Michael Jackson and John Landis set out to produce Thriller with the aesthetics of a feature film.  Michael was a fan of An American Werewolf In London, and called Landis to collaborate on the project.  Academy Award-winning make-up artist Rick Baker was brought in for the elaborate prosthetic transformation of Michael and the cast.  Michael Peters collaborated with Michael on the choreography.  John Branca, Michael’s attorney at the time and now the co-executor of his Estate with John McClain, worked out a deal with MTV and Showtime for a first of its kind “making of” documentary, Making of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, to offset the cost of making the short film.

Thriller premiered at the AVCO Theatre in Los Angeles in 1983, and it sold out every night for three weeks. No other music film generated such excitement and has such a hold on our attention, such that more than three decades later, we all share it as a collective memory and it remains the only music video to be inducted into the elite National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.   It is fitting that Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D and Making of Michael Jackson’sThriller will premiere at the prestigious Venice Film Festival, the oldest film festival in the world.  The Making of Michael Jackson’s Thriller was available on VHS from 1983-1990, and never been available for purchase in any format since then.  Its screening in Venice will mark the first time that the award-winning documentary has ever been shown in a theater.

En la creación de Michael Jackson’s Thriller 3D, el icónico cortometraje original dirigido por John Landis y escrito por Landis y Michael Jackson no fue editado o recortado de ninguna manera. Optimum Productions contactó con Landis y juntos supervisaron un elaborado e intenso proceso que comenzó rescatando la original película de 35 mm de los archivos de Michael y convirtiendo la aclamada película a 3D, utilizando la última tecnología disponible.

Para complementar la imágenes ya mejoradas, todo el audio también se ha actualizado a 5.7, 7.1 y Atmos standards, incluyendo la música de Michael, la banda sonora de Elmer Bernstein y los efectos de sonido, para así crear una experiencia auditiva y visual de máxima calidad en teatros, ya que así es como Michael y Landis querían que la película fuera disfrutada.

Desde el principio, Michael Jackson y John Landis se propusieron producir Thriller con la estética de un largometraje en mente. Michael era fan de la película “An American Werewolf in London”, y contactó con Landis para colaborar en el proyecto. El ganador de varios premios Oscar a Mejor Maquillaje, Rick Baker, fue el encargado de la increíble transformación de Michael y su equipo. Michael Peters colaboró con Michael en la coreografía. LOS ANGELES, CA (July 31, 2017) – “Robarte Un Beso,” the latest single and video from award-winning superstar Carlos Vives and Colombian Pop Urban Promise, Sebastián Yatra has indeed become a smash in three days since its release. The music video premiered on Friday July, 28th and has reached over 8 million views in the first 24 hours and over 13 million views in its first full weekend. The video also marked the #4 most viewed on Youtube’s Global Chart.

The charming video wherein Vives and Yatra encourage a young student to declare his love, is also a love letter to Bogota, and features some of the city’s interesting areas, including Nuestra Señora del Buen Consejo, La Candelaria in the historic center of Bogota, the JW Marriot hotel and the Sisga dam, in Cundinamarca.

Fans, athletes and celebrities took to social media to create their renditions of this viral sensation; Gian Luca Vacchi, Shanon de Lima And Maritza Rodríguez, Lucy Vives, Rigoberto Urán, Twin Melody, among many others.

The contagious tune produced by Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo (Despacito) and written by Carlos Vives, Sebastián Yatra, Mauricio Rengifo and Andrés Torres, revives the era of serenades in a modern world. The video filmed in Colombia was directed by Daniel Durán.

The New Yorker wrote, “The Santa Marta-bred Vives is the king of contemporary vallenato—a form of bouncy, accordion-driven folk music popular in Colombia’s coastal regions.  “Since [his first hit], he’s made a career of revitalizing his beloved country’s traditional tunes with an injection of rock-and-roll riffs and pop rhythms.”

This hit single also sits comfortably at the top Apple’s charts in Colombia, Ecuador, Panamá and Perú, while entering the Top 5 position around the world, including Argentina, Chile, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, México, and Top 20 in Spain.

Both singers, Vives & Yatra spent the weekend in Spain in different cities touring.

CARLOS VIVES & SEBASTIÁN YATRA’s NEW SINGLE “ROBARTE UN BESO” (“Steal a Kiss”) OUT TODAY!

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 28, 2017) – “Robarte un beso” (“Steal a Kiss”) from Colombian superstar Carlos Vives’ is out TODAY. The song features 22 year old urban popstar Sebastian Yatra, who has more than one billion views on Vevo and more than 500 million streams in Spotify. “Robarte un beso” is from Vives upcoming eponymously titled album “VIVES”, set for release in October 2017.

The hashtag #RobarteUnBeso is already going viral!

In the song and video, Yatra and Vives counsel a young student to serenade the girl he loves. “Robarte un beso is a song we made inspired by love, by the act of falling in love, to tell people that it’s never too late to tell that person that’s important for us that we love them,” Yatra said.

Avivar el amor (fuel the love) is the message and Vives confirms it saying “It’s a very beautiful song, it has a lot of what this new generation of musicians like Sebastian has… They keep things that are essential like the message, quality, the poetry of his lyrics, and I am very happy that I’ve been invited to participate on this song and to put that personal feeling that is very popular with young people, a Colombian sound that takes them straight to their roots and their land,” says the singer-songwriter.

The video was directed by Daniel Duran. For two days, Vives and Yatra went out to serenade in different parts of Colombia’s capital, going to scenarios such as Nuestra Señora del Buen Consejo, La Candelaria in the historic center of Bogota, and the JW Marriot hotel. In addition, they arrived at the Sisga dam, in Cundinamarca, to film more savannah landscapes, creating an emotive video with a song that mixes the musical patterns that represent the union of a paisa and a samarian.

The special follows millennials Vincent (Lucas Till) and Victoria (Kiersey Clemons), who meet “accidentally” on Halloween night and find themselves, along with Ichabod, the dog, at a mysterious hotel located at 777 Jackson Street. Once inside This Place Hotel, Vincent and Victoria are sent on an unexpected, magical adventure of personal discovery, culminating in a spectacular dance finale featuring an animated Michael Jackson.

MICHAEL JACKSON’S HALLOWEEN was created and produced by Optimum Productions, with animation production by Hammerhead. John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of The Estate of Michael Jackson, serve as executive producers. Daniel Chuba is the producer and Mark A.Z. Dippé is the director.

Legendary Mexican electronic/funk/rock band KINKY released their new album “Nada Vale Más Que Tú” today, on SeitrackUS. It’s their first of all new material since 2012 and marks a return “to the electronic roots that has characterized the group and solidified them as one of the most important bands in Latin America” (Billboard) and a critical favorite. The album was recorded and produced by Gil Cerezo, Carlos Cháirez and Ulises Lozano (of Kinky) and features guests Pepe Aquilar, Jarina De Marco, MLKMN and others.

The SESAC Latina Music Awards 2017 celebrated another successful year at its annual gala at the Beverly Hills Hotel.  SESAC Latina, the most progressive music rights organization in the nation, and its songwriters and publishers had a record 17 hit #1 songs on various Billboardcharts in 2016.
On hand to present the awards were Celeste Zendejas, Director of SESAC Latina; Eli Ponce, Associate Director of SESAC Latina; Dennis Lord, SESAC’s Executive Vice-President of Creative and Business Affairs; and Sam Kling, SESAC’s Senior Vice-President of Creative Operations.  During the course of the evening, they gave a special thanks to the event’s official sponsors, City National Bank and TNT Agency.
Songwriter of the Year for the fourth year in a row, is the renowned producer and songwriter Luciano Luna who created the year’s biggest hits for Gerardo Ortíz, Banda el Recodo de Don Cruz Lizárraga, La Séptima Banda, Noel Torres, Pesado, El Dasa and many others.

In the category of Song of the Year, which is determined by the longevity of a song’s presence on the charts, the SESAC Latina Award went to “Si No Es Contigo”, recorded by Banda El Recodo De Don Cruz Lizárraga, written by Luciano Luna, published by Editorial LGA and Alvani Music Publishing.  In a category inaugurated last year, multi-Latin GRAMMY winner Rafael Arcaute was named Producer of the Year. 
Sony /ATV Sounds LLC was named Publisher of the Year and Jorge Mejia, President of Sony/ATV Latin America and U.S. Latin, was on hand to accept the award.

For the first time in its history, SESAC Latina awarded the SESAC Latina Crossover Song of the Year 2017 to the long-running, chart topper song that had airplay on general charts to include the Billboard Hot 100 chart, “Hasta El Amanecer” by Nicky Jam.
Some of the highlights of the evening included performances from singer-songwriter and actor Jencarlos Canela who performed his two awarded songs, “Baby” and “Pa’Que Me Invitan”, Panamenian singer-songwriter; Latin GRAMMY winner and recently chosen to enter the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame 2017, Erika Ender, who performed a medley of “Ataúd” and international smash hit “Despacito;” and the traditional Sinaloan brass ensemble La Séptima Banda, who performed a medley of their biggest hits.
Among the other songwriters and artists attending were Intocable, Calibre 50, Bigram DVLP Zayas, Luciano Luna, Eduardo Gurrola de Los De La Noria, Luciana Caporaso, Papayo, Tony Montoya, El Dasa, Jesús Carrillo de Los del Arroyo, Fernando Corona, DJ Smiley Miami.
