As the frontman for the band bearing his name, Daughtry has become one of the most visible and consistent rock & roll torchbearers of the 21st century. Since rising to prominence on the fifth season of American Idol, he has released four studio albums, all of which reached the Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 and have combined sales over 8 million copies worldwide. Daughtry’s self-titled debut hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, which contained four top 20 hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including the Grammy-nominated smash “It’s Not Over.” Leave This Townalso reached No. 1 in 2009, while 2011’s Break the Spell was certified gold. His group’s most recent record, 2013’s Baptized, featured the platinum-selling “Waiting for Superman,” which the singer points to as a turning point in his songwriting.  Daughtry and his band have been performing together for over a decade. “Like anything with a ten year relationship, you know more about each other than you do most of your family,” says Chris Daughtry. One thing that has kept the fire burning for Daughtry has been the need to constantly challenge himself creatively. He has collaborated with artists from Timbaland to Vince Gill to Carlos Santana and took on the role of Judas Iscariot in the 2016 live television performance of The Passion, and even fulfilled a lifelong dream by drawing the cover of a Batman comic which was rated one of the top 25 covers of the year by BatmanNews.com. As the band continues work on its fifth album (which Daughtry describes in its early stages as having a “bluesy, almost rootsy undertone to it”), they look to contemporaries like Maroon 5 and Train as examples of acts able to maintain their relevance while rock & roll faces an uphill struggle in the mass media. Ten years after launching with a massive splash, Chris Daughtry claims that he and the band have grown the most on stage, and that it’s altered his whole sense of his work. “When we first came out, I’d only known what I’d seen,” he says. “I didn’t know how to be vulnerable, with no pretense. Now it’s walk onstage and, especially in our acoustic shows, just be flat-out honest and open. It’s really helped me realize that’s actually what fans want—they want 100 percent honesty and feeling like they got to know you better.”
Superstar country music singer/songwriter and style entrepreneur Jessie James Decker began singing at nine years old and was already attracting attention in Music City for her gritty, genuine vocals by the age of fifteen. Her 2009 self-titled debut album features the gold certified single “Wanted.” Her two most recent EPs, 2014’s Comin’ Home, and Gold, released in February 2017 on Epic Records, hit #1 on the iTunes chart and top 5 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart. Gold includes Decker’s new hit single, “Lights Down Low.” With over 5 million followers across her social media, Decker is a massive influencer with a legion of dedicated fans. Her first nationwide, headlining tour in 2015 sold out almost instantly. With her powerhouse vocals and genuine personality, Decker is carrying the torch for strong females in country music.

SANTA MONICA, CA (May 8, 2017) – dick clark productions and ABC today announced that seven-time Billboard Music Award-winning artist and current Las Vegas resident, Céline Dion, will perform her colossal hit, “My Heart Will Go On,” at the “2017 Billboard Music Awards.” This year marks the 20th anniversary of the emotional and powerful ballad, which became the anthem of one of the top-grossing films of all-time, “Titanic.” The film’s soundtrack hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was named Soundtrack Album of the Year at the 1998 Billboard Music Awards. “Titanic’s” most lauded single, “My Heart Will Go On,” received numerous accolades including an Academy Award for Best Original Song and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song – Motion Picture. The song reached No. 1 in several countries including Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Australia. It also was a monster hit on Billboard’s charts in the U.S., reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Adult Contemporary Pop Songs and Radio Songs charts, and spent a total of 20 weeks on the charts. At this year’s awards show, Céline’s powerful voice and commanding presence will once again bring the song to the forefront via an unforgettable live performance. The “2017 Billboard Music Awards” will broadcast LIVE from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 21 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT on ABC.
“This song means a lot to me, and it has played such a huge role in my career,” said Dion. “I’m so grateful to the late James Horner, and to Will Jennings, for writing it and creating the opportunity for me to be part of Titanic, an amazing film whose legacy will continue for generations to come. It’s a great honor to have the opportunity to perform it on the Billboard Music Awards’ international stage, in celebration of the film’s 20th anniversary.”
“We are thrilled that Céline Dion has chosen the Billboard Music Awards to pay tribute to the 20th Anniversary of her OscarÒ–winning ‘Titanic’ hit, ‘My Heart Will Go On,’” said Mark Bracco, Executive Producer, 2017 Billboard Music Awards.  “Twenty years later, this timeless song still resonates with a global audience of music and movie fans alike.  It’s going to be a performance to remember — and there won’t be a dry eye in the house.”
Nobody could have suspected that the birth of Céline Dion on March 30, 1968 in Charlemagne, Québec marked the arrival of one of the world’s greatest singers. At the age of 12, her ambitions began taking form when she wrote her first song with her mother, Thérèse, and her brother, Jacques, entitled Ce n’était qu’un rêve. That song would lead her to meet the man who would transform her dreams into reality, manager René Angélil. Céline made her first TV appearance on June 19, 1981, on Michel Jasmin’s talk show. Charmed by the young prodigy, lyricist Eddy Marnay subsequently wrote her first hit, La voix du bon Dieu. Next, Céline‘s talent was confirmed with her first international recognition, winning a gold medal at the 13th Yamaha World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo. 1983 would bring her first array of awards: the first in a long line of gold records in France and 4 Félix awards at the Gala de l’ADISQ, a trophy she has won 43 times, a record to the present day. Then, Céline was presented with the unique opportunity to sing Une colombe for Pope John Paul II in an utterly packed Olympic Stadium. The entire world discovered the young singer from Québec thanks to that performance.
The album Incognito was the transformational moment, also marking her first partnership with Luc Plamondon. After winning the 1988 Eurovision contest in Dublin before 600 million TV viewers, Céline took on the American market. Her first English album, Unison, was released in 1990 and certified gold. The song Where Does My Heart Beat Now reached #4 on the prestigious Hot 100 Billboard chart.
While 1991 delivered the gold record Dion chante Plamondon, the year was also marked by the extraordinary theme song to Walt Disney film Beauty and the Beast. Thanks to the global smash success of her duet with Peabo Bryson, Céline won a Grammy Award and her performance resulted in writer and composer, Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, winning an Oscar. The album The Color of My Love was released in 1993 and crowned with success. In 1995, Céline launched the masterpiece D’eux. That collaboration with Jean-Jacques Goldman produced the smash hit Pour que tu m’aimes encore, with D’eux becoming the biggest francophone album of all time, selling 10 million copies.
During the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, Céline performed The Power of the Dream and beat her own previous audience record: over 3.5 billion TV viewers. The following year, Céline became the first artist to perform two songs during the OscarsÒ-: Because You Loved Me and I Finally Found Someone. Those ceremonies would be the prelude to one of the most famous film songs of all time, My Heart Will Go On, released that same year on the album Let’s Talk About Love.  Returning to the OscarsÒ– the following year, Céline’s interpretation of My Heart Will Go On for the movie Titanic won the trophy for Best Original Song. The same year marked the release of the album S’il suffisait d’aimer. The world tour Let’s Talk About Love was an unprecedented triumph, culminating in two performances in the Stade de France in Paris for 180,000 fans.
In 2002, a new album entitled A New Day Has Come was released, introducing the most ambitious project of that era: a show directed by Franco Dragone in a 4,000-capacity theatre in Las Vegas conceived specially for Céline. The show A New Day… was a genuine showbiz revolution, with over 700 sold-out performances for 3 million spectators from 2003 to 2007.
In addition to the concerts, the albums One Heart, Une fille & 4 types, A New Day… Live in Las Vegas, Miracle, D’elles, the compilation On ne change pas and Taking Chances were all released during her residency. Céline returned to the road in 2008 with the Taking Chances tour: 5 continents, 23 countries, 93 cities and 3 million cheering spectators. That tour would take her to the Plains of Abraham to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Québec City in front of 250,000 people. Then came her triumphant return to the Colosseum in Caesars Palace with her show, Céline, which has since reached an epic milestone of over 1,000 performances.
In November 2012, Johnny Halliday, Jean-Pierre Ferland and Henri Salvador joined her on the album Sans attendre. Anglophone fans weren’t left out, as Céline followed up with Loved Me Back To Life, topping the iTunes charts in 44 countries, also hitting #2 on the Billboard Top 200.
And in July 2013, Céline once again visited the Plains of Abraham for the event Céline… une seule fois. On January 14, 2016, after a long battle, René Angélil passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Céline returned to the Colosseum stage on February 23, 2016 and moved the entire world with her courage and strength. But no event better illustrated Céline’s spirit than the “2016 Billboard Music Awards,” where she performed The Show Must Go On, later receiving the Icon Award in recognition of her entire career from her son René Charles.
The second half of 2016 witnessed a sold out 28-show tour of Belgium, France and Québec followed by the release of the album Encore un soir, with the Dion-Goldman partnership returning triumphantly in the title track. And 2017 has opened with a bang for the singer, who kicked it off with the launch of the Céline Dion collection, a line of handbags and accessories. Céline was also mentor for Gwen Stefani’s team on NBC show The Voice, in addition to performing How Does A Moment Last Forever on the soundtrack of the new version of the film Beauty and the Beast. And since Céline lives for the stage, she is currently preparing a new tour of 25 large-scale shows that will take her to 16 of the greatest cities in Europe.

SANTA MONICA, CA (May 4, 2017) – dick clark productions and ABC today announced Cher, the Oscar winning pop music legend and three-time Billboard Music Awards winner, will be honored with the prestigious ICON Award at the “2017 Billboard Music Awards.” One of the most dominant figures in music and entertainment for more than six decades, Cher became the first artist to have a No. 1 single on a Billboard chart in each decade from the 1960s to the 2010s.  As part of her appearance, Cher will perform her 1998 single “Believe,” from her 23rd album of the same name; the song, which spent four weeks at No. 1 and 31 weeks total on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, remains one of the best-selling singles of all time with sales of over 20 million worldwide. The “2017 Billboard Music Awards,” which mark Cher’s first awards show performance in over 15 years, will broadcast LIVE from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 21 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT on ABC.
Previous recipients of the ICON Award include Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Prince, Stevie Wonder and Neil Diamond.
“I’m honored to receive the 2017 Billboard Music Awards ICON Award and take the stage to celebrate my love of music with my fans,” said Cher.  “Seeing so many powerful artists – especially female artists emerge and take their place in history through the years  has been incredible.  I’m honored to be amongst the previous ICON Award winners and to celebrate this milestone achievement by performing ‘Believe’ on the show.”
“Cher’s incredible talent has inspired both audiences and other artists for more than six decades,” said Allen Shapiro, CEO, dick clark productions. “Her impact on the industry has been monumental and unlike any other. We are honored to celebrate her exceptional career with the 2017 Billboard Music Awards ICON Award and look forward to what’s sure to be an extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime performance!”
A worldwide superstar and household name for more than 50 years, Cher has reigned supreme as one of the great performers of all time in realms ranging from recording, live concerts, film, television, directing and Broadway.   The cultural  icon has received  an Academy Award, a Grammy, an Emmy, three Golden Globes, a Cannes Film Festival Award and a People’s Choice Award. She began her career as a backing singer, where she met fledgling producer Sonny Bono.  Together they quickly hit the jackpot with their signature No. 1 song “I Got You Babe” in 1965 and their attention-grabbing hair and clothes – an early hint of Cher’s subsequent influence on the world of fashion. Solo success soon followed with three more No. 1s in the early Seventies “Half Breed”, “Dark Lady” and “Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves.”  At the same time she was becoming a TV sensation on “The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour,” which captured the first of her Golden Globes. By the early 1980s, Cher was ready for a new challenge and turned her focus to acting. In 1982, she took a huge gamble in a Broadway production of “Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean.”  But it paid off when Robert Altman cast her in the movie version, leading to a Golden Globe nomination. Next for Cher was “Silkwood” in 1983, alongside Meryl Streep, followed by “Mask” with Eric Stoltz and Sam Elliott. Four years later, Cher starred in three films, “The Witches of Eastwick” “Suspect” and “Moonstruck.” Her role as the frumpy bookkeeper in “Moonstruck” won her the ultimate Hollywood accolade – the Academy Award for Best Actress, as well as a Golden Globe and People’s Choice Award.
In 1987, Cher went back into the recording studio for the first time since the early eighties, beginning a more rock-oriented phase that led to such major hits as “I Found Someone,” “We All Sleep Alone,” “If I Could Turn Back Time” and three multi-platinum albums.  Her 23rd studio album, the Grammy-winning “Believe” was a critical and commercial smash, reaching No. 1 around the world and selling an estimated 20 million copies. “Believe” made Cher the oldest woman (at 52) to have a No. 1 hit on the Hot 100.  It made her the first female artist to have Top 10 hits in every decade from the 1980s to 2000s.  “Believe” became the biggest selling single ever in the UK by a woman and took her back to the top of the U.S. Hot 100 for a month. The subsequent “Believe” Tour was the most successful of her career at that point but it would be eclipsed by the three-year, 325-show world “Farewell Tour” from 2003 to 2005.  Playing to more than three million fans, and captured on film in an Emmy-winning NBC special, it would become, at the time, the highest grossing tour by a female artist.
Cher returned to film in the 2010 musical “Burlesque”, with her soundtrack Diane Warren ballad “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me,” winning a Golden Globe for Best Original Song. Simultaneously Las Vegas beckoned and “Cher at the Colosseum” at Caesars Palace ran for three years and almost 200 concerts before winding down in February of 2011.  In 2013 her first new album in 12 years, “Closer To The Truth,” became her highest-charting U.S. solo album ever, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. It was followed by the sold-out “D2K” North American concert tour.  In 2017 the irrepressible superstar returned to the stage once again with “CLASSIC CHER,” a critically-acclaimed overview of her career at the Park Theater at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, and the MGM National Harbor Theater in Maryland. She continues her residency at the Park Theatre at the Monte Carlo Hotel through 2017.

En 1982, participó en la producción de Broadway “Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean.” Cuatro años más tarde, Cher protagonizó tres películas “The Witches of Eastwick”, “Suspect” and “Moonstruck”.

2017 TOP NOMINEE CHART FACTS:
·       In the past year, the chart-ruling Beyoncé notched her sixth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with Lemonade and earned eight top 40-charting songs from the set on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Lemonade also made the diva the first woman to debut at No. 1 with her first six full-length studio albums. In support of Lemonade, the entertainer mounted the Formation World Tour, which played to more than 2.2 million fans at 49 shows, and earned $256 million according to Billboard Boxscore. Beyoncé is a six-time Billboard Music Award winner, and was also was honored with the Billboard Millennium Award in 2011.
·       15-time Billboard Music Award winner Justin Bieber continued an illustrious run of success since releasing his No. 1 Billboard 200 album Purpose, which generated his first three Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles: “What Do You Mean?,” “Sorry” and “Love Yourself.” He added two more top five Hot 100 hits in 2016, as his vocals helped Major Lazer’s “Cold Water” and DJ Snake’s “Let Me Love You” reach Nos. 2 and 4, respectively. The former also crowned Billboard‘s Pop Songs and Hot Dance/Electronic Songs charts, all while Purpose continued its domination: it has spent more than 70 weeks on the chart, Bieber’s longest run on the list since his since 2010 LP, My World 2.0.
·       EDM DJ duo The Chainsmokers surged to the mainstream with a string of smash singles over the past year. The pair notched their first top five Billboard Hot 100 hit in summer 2016, “Don’t Let Me Down,” featuring rising star Daya. After that, The Chainsmokers followed with their first No. 1, the 12-week leader “Closer,” featuring Halsey. The nostalgic song logged the longest reign atop the Hot 100 of 2016 and went on to historic heights, breaking the mark for the most weeks (27) tallied in the top five for any song in the Hot 100’s 59-year history.
·       Breakout rapper Desiigner’s viral hit “Panda” exploded in 2016, on its way to a record-setting 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart and 17 weeks atop Hot Rap Songs. It also clocked two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song’s success helped the Brooklyn native earn several year-end honors, including the top new R&B/hip-hop artist of 2016.
·       Everything Drake touched turned to chart gold in the past year. The artist claimed his first No. 1 as a lead act on the Billboard Hot 100 with “One Dance,” featuring WizKid and Kyla; his Views album racked up 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (the longest run atop the list for a man since 1992); and his recent More Life project bowed atop the list in April. The latter set granted Drake his seventh consecutive No. 1 on the list, comprising every one of his full-length albums. Additionally, More Life blasted in atop the chart with a record number of streams for its songs in a single week: 384.8 million in the U.S.
·       Since soaring onto Billboard‘s country charts in 2012, Florida Georgia Line has continued to conquer with its mix of party anthems and reflective ballads. Dig Your Roots arrived as the duo’s third No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart and the set spun off FGL’s fifth No. 1 single on Hot Country Songs, the 18-week leader “H.O.L.Y.” (as well as follow-up hits featuring Tim McGraw and Backstreet Boys). The act boasts two of three longest-reigning No. 1s in the Hot Country Songs chart’s six-decade history: before “H.O.L.Y.,” its debut hit “Cruise” ruled for a record 24 weeks.
·       12-time Billboard Music Award winner Rihanna continued a record-setting run with her No. 1 Billboard 200 album Anti. As the set’s “Love on the Brain” reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, she became only the third act in Hot 100 history to earn 30 top 10 hits, following The Beatles (34) and Madonna (38). Another Anti top 10, “Needed Me,” gave the global superstar her longest-charting Hot 100 hit: its 45 weeks surpassed the 41 of “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris in 2011-2012.
·       Two-time Billboard Music Award-winners Twenty One Pilots spent the past year solidifying their domination of Billboard’s rock charts, claiming three long-running No. 1s on the Hot Rock Songs chart. The alternative rock duo’s “Stressed Out” ruled for 23 weeks, “Ride” followed with nine weeks on top, and “Heathens” spent a record 30 weeks at No. 1. All three tracks reached the top five on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart — making Twenty One Pilots the first rock act to earn three top five hits in a year since 1988.
·       After The Weeknd broke through to the pop mainstream in 2015 with his No. 1 Billboard 200 album Beauty Behind the Madness, the eight-time Billboard Music Award winner returned with another chart-topper, Starboy, in 2016. The set ruled the list for five weeks and spun off a No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 in its title track, featuring Daft Punk. The album saw its second single, “I Feel It Coming,” again featuring Daft Punk, reach the top five in early April. Further, The Weeknd charted all 18 songs from Starboy on the Billboard Hot 100 dated Dec. 17, 2016, making him one of only two artists to have charted that many Hot 100 titles from a single album.
Billboard Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital songs sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The awards are based on the reporting period of March 18, 2016 through March 16, 2017. Since 1940, the Billboard charts have been the go-to guide for ranking the popularity of songs and albums, and are the ultimate measure of success in music.
ABC’s three-hour telecast of the “2016 Billboard Music Awards” drew an average audience of 9.8 million viewers and a 3.2/10 in Adults 18-49 to rank as Sunday’s No. 1 broadcast program. In addition, the awards show was Sunday’s most social program with 1.8 million tweets.
