Trinidadian-born American rapper, singer, songwriter and actress, Nicki Minaj, is currently the most charted female rapper in the history of music. Minaj has sold over 60 million singles as a featured artist alone, 20 million singles as a lead artist and almost 5 million albums worldwide. She is the first female rapper to chart in five countries and have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. Nicki ranks in the Top 5 in women with the most Hot 100 entries to date. She led nominations for rap musicians at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards with seven nominations and three wins including “Top Rap Artist,” “Top Streaming Artist” and “Top Rap Album.”  Minaj re-released her second studio album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded The Re-Up” in November 2012, seven months after releasing her second studio album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” which debuted number 1 in five countries including the US. Since then, the album has become one of the best-selling albums of 2012, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Her debut studio album, “Pink Friday,” also achieved record-breaking numbers in 2010, by becoming certified Platinum only a month after its release. In addition to her No. 1 US debut, the first-time Grammy Award nominee for best new artist is thriving internationally, snagging the #1 spots in the UK, Japan and Canada and debuting in the Top 5 in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Ireland. With her #1 debut in the UK, Minaj has been named the highest charting solo female rapper in history with the UK’s Official Albums Charts. Skylar Grey is a five-time GRAMMY-nominated singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.  She is responsible for co-writing some of the most memorable songs, totaling more than 25 million singles globally including Diddy’s “Coming Home Part II” and  the biggest selling  single of 2010: Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie,” which earned her two GRAMMY Award nominations for Best Song and Best Rap Song of the Year. She  co-wrote and appeared on Dr. Dre’s “I Need A Doctor,” which she performed alongside Dre and Eminem on the 2011 GRAMMY Awards telecast and received two GRAMMY Award nominations. Skylar teamed up with David Guetta for his track “Shot Me Down”, released earlier this year. She has also written and/or performed on tracks for Moby, Kaskade, Will.i.am, Zedd, and Cee Lo. The 2014 American Music Award nominations were announced last month, revealing six nominations for Iggy Azalea–the most of any artist.  Other top contenders include John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams, who each earned five nominations, and Lorde who earned four. 

As always at the American Music Awards, artists will be honored in the genres of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative Rock, Adult Contemporary, Latin, Contemporary Inspirational, Electronic Dance Music, as well as categories for Top Soundtrack, New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s, Artist of the Year and Single of the Year. The American Music Awards is voted on by the fans. Winners will be determined through online and Twitter voting.  Voting began on October 13 for all categories except New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s. Fans can vote once per day at the Coca-Cola AMA voting site, AMAvote.com, as well as once per day via Twitter by including the nominee’s name, category name and #AMAs within a tweet.  

Voting for New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s opened on November 1 and will remain open throughout the first hour of the ABC live broadcast on November 23, with the winner being announced in the final hour. Fans can vote via AMAVote.com and Twitter.

Preceding the ABC broadcast for the 6^th consecutive year will be the “Coca-Cola Red Carpet LIVE! @ The 2014 AMAs” pre-show. The show will be hosted by Lance Bass, Chelsea Briggs, Kandi Burruss, Gavin DeGraw, Franke Grande, Taryn Manning, Jordin Sparks, Morgan Stewart and Ted Stryker, and will feature performances by this year’s hottest emerging artists including Becky G, Ella Henderson, Katy Tiz, Mary Lambert and R5. Live coverage will stream online for fans worldwide starting at 5:00 p.m. ET / 2:00 p.m. PT on November 23.  The live stream can be watched at ABC.com, TheAMAs.com and yahoo.com.

Los Angeles, CA (November 6, 2014) – dick clark productions and ABC announced today that Garth Brooks, pop superstar Selena Gomez and rock sensation Imagine Dragons will perform on the 2014 American Music Awards, the world’s biggest fan-voted award show. Brooks will perform live from a stop on his Garth Brooks World Tour in Greensboro, North Carolina performing a song from his new album “Man Against Machine”. Gomez’s performance of her new single “Heart Wants What it Wants” will mark the first time that she performs the song live for television. Imagine Dragons will take to the stage with a performance of their brand new single “I Bet My Life”, the first music to be released from the quartet’s upcoming second album. They join a star-studded lineup of previously announced must-see performers including 5 Seconds of Summer, Iggy Azalea, Mary J. Blige, Charli XCX, Fergie, Lorde, One Direction, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift and the evening’s host, Pitbull.  The 2014 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. Gomez will perform “Heart Wants What it Wants”, the lead single from her forthcoming greatest hits collection “For You.”  Her first solo album “Stars Dance” was released in 2013 and debuted at #1 on the Billboard album chart.   The first single from the album “Come and Get It” was an international hit as well her first #1 single on the US Top 40 chart. She then followed up the success of the album with a sold out world tour.  Gomez had released three previous albums with her band “The Scene.”  Over the course of her music career Selena has sold over 15 million singles in the US and hit the top of the Billboard Dance Chart five times.  Selena Gomez made her mark in entertainment by conquering film, music and television at an early age.   On the big screen, she began making the transition from young actress to adulthood with such films as the much talked about Harmony Korine film “Spring Breakers.”   The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival to critical claim while Gomez’s performance was singled out as a “breakout.”  She was most recently seen opposite William H. In 2008 the President-elect, himself, requested that Garth headline President Obama’s Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial. Brooks also sold out his recent appearance at the 100th anniversary of the Calgary Stampede. The 15,000+ seat sell-out happened in less than a minute. Garth was recently inducted into the International Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York as well as the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Performing for his induction were his heroes George Strait, James Taylor and Bob Seger.  On November 29th, 2013, Garth took the night with almost 9 million viewers watching his televised special “Live From Las Vegas.” That very day Garth released his new boxed set, Blame It All On My Roots, which debuted for the 13th time in Garth’s career at #1 on the country charts. Imagine Dragons will take to the stage with a performance of their brand new single “I Bet My Life”, the first music to be released from the Las Vegas quartet’s upcoming second album.  They are returning to the American Music Awards after winning “Favorite Artist – Alternative Rock” at 2013’s event, where they also wowed the crowd with a performance of their hit, “Radioactive”.  Formed in 2009 by vocalist Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee, and drummer Daniel Platzman, Imagine Dragons earned a grassroots following by independently releasing a series of EPs. After Alex Da Kid signed them to his KIDinaKORNER/Interscope label, the band made its major-label debut with the release of Continued Silence, a 2012 EP featuring the 2x platinum breakthrough single “It’s Time.” The band’s double-platinum album Night Visions arrived later that year and Imagine Dragons found themselves on a skyward trajectory that saw the album debut at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, sell nearly four million copies worldwide, and became the No. 1 album on Spotify Worldwide for 2013. Night Visions’ second single, the 9x platinum “Radioactive,” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Rock chart and earned the band a 2014 Grammy for “Best Rock Performance.” It is the best-selling rock song in U.S. digital history. The third single, “Demons,” hit No. 1 at Alternative and Top 40 radio, and has sold 3.9 million copies in the U.S. The band has sold more than 24 million tracks worldwide.

The 2014 American Music Award nominations were announced last month, revealing six nominations for Iggy Azalea–the most of any artist.  Other top contenders include John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams, who each earned five nominations, and Lorde who earned four. 

As always at the American Music Awards, artists will be honored in the genres of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative Rock, Adult Contemporary, Latin, Contemporary Inspirational, Electronic Dance Music, as well as categories for Top Soundtrack, New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s, Artist of the Year and Single of the Year. Los Angeles, CA (October 31, 2014) – dick clark productions and ABC announced today that 2014’s most-nominated artist, Iggy Azalea, will perform at the American Music Awards, the world’s biggest fan-voted award show. She joins a star-studded lineup of previously announced must-see performers including 5 Seconds of Summer, Charli XCX, Mary J. Blige, Fergie, Lorde, One Direction, Sam Smith and the evening’s host, Pitbull.  The 2014 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23^rd (8:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) on ABC.  Additional performers and presenters will be announced soon.

After years of honing her signature style on hip-hop’s underground circuit, Iggy Azalea burst onto the charts and emerged as the breakout story of 2014. Her smash hit, “Fancy” featuring Charli XCX, rocketed to #1, breaking airplay and Spotify records along the way. After an astounding 7 weeks at #1, Iggy Azalea made history on the Billboard Hot 100 as “Fancy,” rewrote the record for the longest-leading No. 1 by a female rapper. Iggy made chart history again as the first artist since The Beatles to rank at Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously with their first two Hot 100 hits. “Fancy” has been unilaterally dubbed 2014’s “Song Of The Summer,” and has been covered by everyone from Saturday Night Live, to Jimmy Fallon, to Weird Al Yankovic. Iggy’s debut album The New Classic peaked at #1 on the Billboard Rap Album charts, a first for an international female artist. Iggy’s new single “Black Widow” featuring Rita Ora, hit #1 at Top 40 and Rhythmic radio.

The 2014 American Music Award nominations were announced earlier this month, revealing that Azalea is up for six awards – the most of any artist – including Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year presented by Kohl’s, Single of the Year (“Fancy”), Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock, Favorite Artist Rap/Hip-Hop, and Favorite Album Rap/Hip-Hop (“The New Classic”).  Other top contenders include John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams, who each earned five nominations, and Lorde who earned four. 

As always at the American Music Awards, artists will be honored in the genres of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative Rock, Adult Contemporary, Latin, Contemporary Inspirational, Electronic Dance Music, as well as categories for Top Soundtrack, New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s, Artist of the Year and Single of the Year. American Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions as reflected in Billboard Magazine and on Billboard.com, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, streaming and social activity.  These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound.

The American Music Awards is voted on by the fans. Winners will be determined through online and Twitter voting.  Voting begins on October 13 for all categories except New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s. Fans can vote once per day at the Coca-Cola AMA voting site, AMAvote.com, as well as once per day via Twitter by including the nominee’s name, category name and #AMAs within a tweet.  

Voting for New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s will open on November 1 and will remain open throughout the first hour of the ABC live broadcast on November 23, with the winner being announced in the final hour. Fans can vote via AMAVote.com and Twitter.

Preceding the ABC broadcast for the 6^th consecutive year will be the “Coca-Cola Red Carpet LIVE! @ The 2014 AMAs” pre-show. Live coverage will stream online for fans worldwide starting at 5:00 p.m. ET / 2:00 p.m. PT on November 23^rd at Yahoo Live, this year’s official digital distributor of the American Music Awards Experience.
