In a little more than three years, Sweden’s Avicii has become one of the biggest names in dance music. Even though the producer/DJ has released dozens of songs over the past few years, it wasn’t until September of this year that he released his first studio album, True, which, quite blasphemously, merged bluegrass with electronic music. But it also included the more traditional, dance-floor-ready “You Make Me,” which prominently featured the vocals of a fellow Swede, the soul-crooner Salem Al Fakir. Now that the year is winding down, Avicii is capping it off with a remix of “You Make Me” by rising EDM producer Throttle.

Throttle’s mix retains the song’s central character; it’s still meant to be a soundtrack to booty shaking, built off a pumping beat and Al Fakir’s revelatory chorus. Now, however, a metallic wind rushes between the rhythm and Al Fakir’s voice, giving it a combustible character. When the storm comes to a head, the song erupts into an Eighties-style synth-driven break beat. Throughout the rest of the song, Throttle experiments with the contrast between the ambient and the percussive, alternately letting the swirling synths and thumping beats take center stage, and showing just how malleable the dance floor can be.

PRMD/Island Records superstar DJ/producer Avicii wraps up a phenomenally successful year with top Critics Poll picks (Rolling Stone, Spin, and more) for his debut album TRUE (released September 17th) containing “Wake Me Up,” Avicii’s career-defining worldwide smash #1 single.

Officially impacting at radio this week is the “house-country” sensation “Hey Brother” (featuring renowned bluegrass singer/composer Dan Tyminski of Union Station), the second U.S. single from TRUE.  The release of “Hey Brother” and the video premiere on VEVO (http://vevo.ly/O7kAxO) kick off a multi-week remix campaign, with the “Wake Me Up” Remixes arriving on December 13th and “You Make Me” remixes coming December 31st.

Avicii was ranked #1 Most Shazamed EDM Artist In the World for 2013, and “Wake Me Up” was ranked #2 Most-Shazamed Song In the World.  Spotify’s 2013 Year In Review results were also announced this week, with Avicii ranked #2 Global Artist of 2013 and “Wake Me Up” ranked #2 Global Track of 2013.

Avicii scored back-to-back wins last month for his first American Music Award, as Favorite EDM (Electronic Dance Music Artist), and his first MTV Europe Music Award (EMA) for Best Electronic Artist.  Upcoming are the 40th annual People’s Choice Awards, airing January 8th live from Los Angeles, with Avicii nominated for Favorite Male Artist.

“Wake Me Up” (described as “insanely catchy” by Rolling Stone) hit #1 in 73 countries, including the UK where it set a new record for the fastest-selling single of 2013.  Now in its 23rd week on the Billboard Hot 100, “Wake Me Up” has logged nearly 300 million YouTube views, and iTunes sales north of 7 million.

TRUE, Avicii’s full-length album debut, and first full album of all new studio music, was recorded in Los Angeles and Stockholm, where Avicii collaborated with an eclectic group of artists including Aloe Blacc, Imagine Dragons, Michael Einziger from Incubus, Dan Tyminski, Nile Rodgers, and the legendary Mac Davis. The New York Times proclaimed him “an artist carrying today — and tomorrow — on his shoulders.”

Avicii is well known for his international mega-hit “Le7els” which conquered club charts worldwide, garnered over 83 million YouTube views and sold over 4 million singles; and “Silhouettes,” which netted over 40 million views.  After just three years of performing, Avicii rocketed to the #3 position on DJ Mag’s yearly poll of the Top 100 DJs and was ranked #2 on Forbes Most Powerful Artists Under 30.

24-year old Avicii leads the next generation of electronic music producers to explode, propelling him into the ranks of superstar DJs who are able to perform to massive crowds.  He is the face of Denim and Supply Ralph Lauren which has been a true creative partnership between Avicii and the brand.  He starred in the Denim & Supply campaign in 2012 and spring of 2013, and co-produced the video for the remix of his hit “Silhouettes” which Ralph Lauren debuted last fall.  The third phase of the brand integration campaign kicks off January 2014.

LOS ANGELES – TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10 – Dynamic Swedish DJ duo Cazzette, aka Alexander Björklund and Sebastian Furrer, will release Run For Cover on iTunes today. Dancing Astronaut calledRun for Cover “a standout track from Eject that’s classic Cazzette in the sense of the dubstep break and electro drop.” The track is the second single from Cazzette’s upcoming EJECT album on PRMD/4th &B’way/Island Records, which is set for an iTunes release on January 28. Run For Cover blends elements of house, electro and dubstep into a searing dance floor powerhouse. Switching between bursts of four to the floor energy and thunderous half-step drum patterns, the 8 bit-melodies and warped bassline collide with lightning rod synths to create a standout club track. All of this ferocity is captured in the ambitious, widescreen vision for the video, which sees a man hunted through an eerily deserted, ice-covered city by a swarm of genetically mutated pigeons under instructions from a higher authority.

Run For Cover first appeared on the Spotify release of Cazzette’s EJECT album, which made Cazzette the first group ever to launch a project exclusively through the streaming service. Since the release, EJECT has had 33 million Spotify streams, and Run For Cover has had 2 million streams.

Cazzette made a huge splash in 2011 with its official remixes of Avicii’s ‘Sweet Dreams’ and Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Save The World.’ Just this year, the duo headlined Ultra Music Festival, EDC Chicago, EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo, Summerburst Gothenburg, Tomorrowland, TomorrowWorld, Ultra Korea and Ultra Croatia, and performed on primetime TV for Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day. Los Angeles, CA (December , 9th) –Alejandro Fernandez’s acclaimed, sold-out CONFIDENCIAS Tour 2013 concluded this weekend in Los Angeles as it started in Miami last month, with audiences on their feet singing and critics raving for the Latin Grammy winning superstar’s astonishing vocals and world class production. The weekend shows at the Nokia Theater were the grand finale of a dozen performances that took Fernandez and his entirely new production to major markets in the US including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

The dazzling show pays homage to Mexico via Fernandez’s exceptional mariachi, orchestra and vocal prowess, featuring a collection of his greatest hits, including traditional “rancheras”, pop hits and songs from his new album CONFIDENCIAS.
