Founded by  Desmond Child, the first living Hispanic inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame,  and award winning producer Rudy Perez,  the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization which seeks to honor the world’s greatest Latin songwriters and their music in every genre.  The design of the LA MUSIC AWARD is based on a 1950s sculpture of Child’s mother, Cuban-born songwriter/poet Elena Casals, who herself founded one of the first songwriters societies, Cuban Composers in Exile.

At the end of the evening, Child said, “Latin music is poetic, emotional and melodic.  It’s part of our cultural history, and we thought it was time that public tribute was paid to its creators.  We didn’t dare to dream that our first induction ceremony would be so impactful. It was thrilling to see the world come together to celebrate our culture.”

Perez added, “It always takes so much energy and devotion to create a new venture, so I couldn’t ask for a better partner to work with than Desmond.  Tonight’s show is based on our admiration for all the great songwriters that paved the way in Latin songwriting. We felt it was important to start documenting our history, and tonight’s show started us on that path.”

The first group of iconic songwriters to receive the LA MUSA award during the Black Tie gala were:  Manuel Alejandro (Spain), Jose Angel Espinoza “Ferrusquilla” (Mexico), Jose Feliciano (Puerto Rico), Julio Iglesias (Spain), Armando Manzanero (Mexico), Concha Valdéz Miranda (Cuba) and a posthumous award was given to Roberto Cantoral (Mexico).

Hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as “one of the Princes of the contemporary renaissance of EDM,” Grammy-nominated Avicii – born Tim Bergling – is best known for his acclaimed live performances and for his international mega-hit ‘Levels’: The hit which conquered club charts worldwide, racked up over 50 million YouTube views, and was declared David Guetta’s “Tune of 2011” in DJ Mag. He was recently ranked as the second-most influential under-30 person in music by Forbes magazine.
Following an intense and prolific touring schedule as well as the worldwide release of his summer smash hit ‘Silhouettes,’ the Swede soared to #3 in the 2012 DJ Mag poll listing the Top 100 DJs – this, after just three years as a performing artist.
In 2012 alone, Avicii has headlined festivals such as Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Lollapallooza, as well as having his first summer residency at Ushuaïa Beach Hotel in Ibiza smashing the party island to smithereens. His ‘Superlove’ collaboration with Lenny Kravitz, and remix of Madonna’s ‘Girls Gone Wild,’ are among the most acclaimed tracks of this year.

AVICII VS NICKY ROMERO RELEASE NEW SINGLE “I COULD BE THE ONE”

OUT NOW VIA LEVELS/CASABLANCA RECORDS

Buy “I Could Be The One” via iTunes

New York, NY – January 22, 2013 – There’s no doubt about it. AVICII, aka Tim Bergling, is most definitely “The One.” The two-time Grammy Award-nominated A-list DJ and producer recently revealed his brand new single with Dutch house legend Nicky Romero, “I Could Be The One” (LE7ELS/Casablanca). Now, the track officially hits iTunes and other digital retailers January 22, 2013.

On Christmas Eve, AVICII vs NICKY ROMERO released the official music video, and the exuberant message of personal freedom has already amassed nearly 8.5 million YouTube/VEVO views.

Originally (and fittingly) titled ‘Nicktim,’ this alchemic collaboration between two of dance music’s finest has had fans salivating since the instrumental was first previewed on Pete Tong’s ‘Essential Selection’ show back in February 2012, following months of speculation. Pairing Avicii’s infectious melodic talents with Romero’s big, high-energy sound, the result is a bold progressive house anthem from two of EDM’s fastest rising stars. Complete with an exquisite top line from Swedish pop singer Noonie Bao, ‘I Could Be The One’ looks set to be one of the dance-pop crossover phenomenon’s biggest success stories as it has already infiltrated key Top 40 stations and is #1 on Beatport home page leading up to the wide release.

About Avicii
Avicii will have an ubiquitous presence this year , not only headlining Ultra Music Festival, he’s also got his very own “Avicii Stage” with numerous surprises planned for fans. His Ralph Lauren branding campaign also enters its next phase in the Spring.

Earlier this month, Avicii launched his “Avicii x You” collaborative project, encouraging fans and producers globally to craft and send beats and sounds that will comprise his next track. In just one week, he received over 5000 sound submissions, from 2600 artists from more than 100 countries around the world.  This is quickly becoming the world’s largest artist collaboration project, being featured in CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, MTV.com, and countless other sites and blogs. The artist and all other royalty participants in the final track have agreed to donate their royalties to the charity foundation, House For Hunger founded in 2011 by AVICII and Ash Pournouri to fight the constantly growing hunger problem worldwide.

Avicii’s 2011 House for Hunger Tour benefitted Feeding America to the tune of $1 million.
Last year proved to be nothing sort of remarkable for AVICII. He headlined Ultra Music Festival, Coachella, and Austin City Limits. He jumped to #3 on the DJ Mag Top 100 Vote, was ranked #3 DJ on Forbes DJ List, and reached #2 Musician on Forbes Most Powerful Artists Under 30. “Levels” became one of the most-played tracks in the world and netted him a second Grammy nomination. His headline tour sold out in hours, and he was the first electronic artist to play Radio City Music Hall.

That’s all precisely why he’s “The One” though. AVICII is still reaching new levels, and he wants everyone to join him on this trip.

About Nicky Romero
Thus far, Nicky Romero’s 2012 has been a year emblematic of a world’s top-tier DJ. Aside from “Wild One Two” – the anthemic collaboration with David Guetta and Sia under the newly established record label Jack Back – Nicky has released countless other dance floor juggernauts such as “Toulouse”, “Generation 303”, “Camorra” and of course “Nicktim”. Unlike like many other producers, each of Romero’s releases reasserts the claim that he is here to stay. Having frequented the festival circuit with headline gigs at the likes of UMF Miami, Energy in Holland, Electric Zoo in New York, and Belgium’s Tomorrowland – not forgetting his residency at the prestigious Marquee club in Las Vegas – this has been one hell of a year for the now star-studded Dutch artist.

AVICII VS. NICKY ROMERO BENT COLLECTIVE REMIX DEBUTS

“I COULD BE THE ONE” #1 IN UK AND TOP 10 ON BILLBOARD

LOS ANGELES, CA – FEBRUARY 20, 2013 – Avicii has posted the official new Bent Collective remix of Avicii vs Nicky Romero “I Could Be the One,” and it’s getting major traction:

The “I Could Be the One” track is shaping up as the biggest dance tracks of 2013, hitting #1 on the UK official singles chart and #4 on Billboard’s Dance Club Play Chart this week. The video has nearly 19 million combined Vevo/YouTube downloads.

Bent Collective is an engine for collaboration with a shared goal of fusing the talents of emerging DJs and producers and putting their collective stamp on the over-ground of dance music. The various members of Bent Collective are already successful in their own right and within their respective lanes. Together, they promise to ramp up collaborative fusion and move the goalposts for dance music forward as the genre continues to dominate the music industry. Coming together for Avicii vs Nicky Romero’s “I Could Be the One” are three of Europe’s biggest talents, Danny Verde (Italy), Steven Redant (Belgium) and Guy Scheiman (Israel).

Each worked in their own respective studios in different countries laboring through travels, gigs and solo projects to accommodate the deadline for the “I Could Be The One” remix. Through the wonder of Skype and shared programs the trio hatched  the bottom end of the track with Steven even flying from Brussels into Danny’s “Holab” studio in Milan for the day, while Guy Skyped in with his contribution. The mix and its various sections and parts passed back and forth. The fusion worked, with the final layers of the process resulting in an anthemic take on an EDM future classic.

“AVICII X YOU” LAUNCHES TODAY – 2X GRAMMY NOMINATED DJ/PRODUCER INVITES MUSICAL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM FANS ALL OVER THE WORLD

Los Angeles, CA], January 9th, 2013 – Superstar DJ and producer Avicii, aka Tim Bergling, today announces ‘Avicii x You‘ – a collaborative project urging fans and producers from all corners of the world to create and submit the beats and sounds that will turn into his next hit track.

The collaboration project will be run in five stages and last for six weeks. Each week, artists will be able to join the collaboration by creating and uploading samples based on specific themes determined by Avicii.

Avicii will act as executive producer, curating sounds like the baseline, effects, melody, rhythm, and vocals. Avicii will then pick his three favorite contributions on a weekly basis and put these samples up for a public vote. Once all the sounds have been selected, Avicii will start producing the track with all the beats, which is to be premiered on February 26, 2013.

“My main ambition with this project is to create a large, worldwide music collaboration. It will be incredibly cool to create a house piece out of so many talented artists’ different ideas,” says Avicii.

“With the ‘Avicii x You’ project we are trying again to shift a paradigm and for it to become another ‘first’ using today’s possibilities through social technology. As usual, we hope to raise awareness not only for Avicii being an amazing producer, but also for the electronic dance music scene and how song producing is not exclusive to only trained musicians. It’s a world-inspiring, community-engaging and fun project,” says Ash Pournouri, Avicii’s business manager and producer in his own rights.

‘Avicii x You’ is made possible by the constantly evolving digital society, where new ways of working creatively across borders are allowed to emerge. Here, creation is not done individually, but rather collaboratively – as a shared process between people from all around the globe. The partners behind the project are At Night Management, telecom technology and services provider Ericsson and Universal Music.

All royalties from everyone creatively contributing to the final track will be donated to the charity foundationHouse For Hunger. House For Hunger was founded in 2011 by Avicii and Ash Pournouri to fight the constantly growing hunger problem worldwide. The organization kicked off in early 2012 with a massive US Avicii tour enabling Avicii and Ash Pournouri to personally donate 1 million USD to Feeding America.

The creative process will be documented on camera, and those videos will be premiered throughout the project across VEVO. The world’s leading all-premium music video and entertainment platform will make all videos available on VEVO.com as well as its mobile and tablet apps and recently launched Xbox and Roku channels.

‘Avicii x You’ is set to be an electronic music journey to remember and aspiring participants will be able to upload their sounds and enter the collaboration by submitting their work here, until February 13th.

About At Night
At Night Management, founded by Ash Pournouri in 2009, represents a new generation of music management, and brings a fresh and innovative perspective to the music business based on the realities of the future over the traditions of the past.

At Night Management and the Ash Alliance team, with offices in Stockholm, New York, and Los Angeles, has combined a creative approach to building modern music careers with a hard-nosed, relentless business acumen required in today’s highly volatile entertainment industry. Pournouri’s penchant for creating new paradigms for success stems from an ability to force his vision into reality, and forms the basis of the company’s motto-“we don’t discover artists, we create them.” His eye for raw talent and the experience to nurture it is combined with a strategy that’s based on leveraging fame into a brand that transcends music into areas such as fashion, movies, charity and more.

At Night’s oversight of Avicii’s career is marked with a mix of new media savvy and old-school moxie, as illustrated by his eschewing commitments to any one record label, booking agent, or residency offer, while striking brand and licensing deals with Bud Light and Ralph Lauren’s “Denim & Supply” line-the first ever celebrity relationship for the venerable brand. With his oversight, Avicii has in three years rocked to the #3 spot on DJ Mag’s list of top 100 DJs in the world.

At Night has since added the dubstep duo Cazzette to their roster, creating the innovative and first-ever launch of an artist project on Spotify.

AVICII’S GRAMMY WEEK APPEARANCES IN LOS ANGELES FOCUS ON WORLD HUNGER

LOS ANGELES, CA – FEBRUARY 5, 2013 – This week, two-time Grammy nominated DJ/Producer Avicii, aka Tim Bergling, and his manager, Grammy nominated executive producer Ash Pournouri, continue their work in bringing attention to the problem of global hunger by donating the funds to provide two million school meals through the FEED Foundation in the name of their charity, House for Hunger. They will be directing the funds from Avicii’s two Grammy-week performances in L.A.:  Thursday, February 7th, the opening of Vanguard in Hollywood; and Friday, February 8th, at the Conga Room.

www.houseforhunger.org

Avicii and Pournouri created House for Hunger in 2011. The two felt that the values of generosity, love and unity that house music has always been about had been given short shrift by the media. They created House for Hunger to demonstrate the positivity of the music and its fans while addressing the issue of hunger in a very concrete way.

The donation of two million meals will be directed by the FEED Foundation to school meals programs in the most impoverished areas of Africa. This is the second initiative for House for Hunger. The first resulted in Bergling and Pournouri giving, through House for Hunger, $1 million to Feeding America.

“We’re thrilled to be the beneficiary of Avicii and House of Hunger’s continued efforts to raise funds for the fight against hunger. Avicii is truly leading the charge in inspiring young people, and the house music industry, to get involved and to give back,” said Lauren Bush Lauren, the Chairman and Co-founder of the FEED Foundation.
