Latin Grammy® winning pop group REIK (Jesus Navarro, Julio Ramirez and Bibi Marin) has been invited to perform at SESAC LATINA annual gala on June 20th at the Beverly Hills hotel in Beverly Hills. Hosted by SESAC Latina’s Vice President J. J. Cheng, the evening will include cocktail/dinner, awards and live musical performances from top SESAC talent.

The band’s latest single “Creo En Ti,” co-written by Marin, reached #8 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Charts and continues among the most played songs in the country.  “Peligro”, the title track from REIK’s latest award winning album was co-written by Navarro.  The single topped the Billboard charts in the US, Mexico and Puerto Rico and was among the best selling singles on iTunes.  Both Marin and Navarro are SESAC Latina affiliates.  The band’s  first big breakthrough in the music scene came in 2005 with their debut single “Yo Quisiera,” which gave way for the release of their self-titled album to become a hit soon after.  Powerful and energetic, REIK continues to grow musically through touring and songwriting.  Without losing their essence, Jesus, Julio and Bibi have continued to evolve their sound as evidenced on “Peligro”, which debuted at #3 on the US charts and continues to be a top performer on iTunes.

Los Angeles – May 21, 2012- SESAC, the most progressive performing rights organization in the United States and Puerto Rico, is proud to announce the signing of the Latino singer, songwriter and producer Robi ‘Draco’ Rosa.

“We are much honored and pleased that Robi ‘Draco’ Rosa has joined our incredible roster of affiliates,” says J. J. Cheng, Vice President of Writer and Publisher Relations at SESAC Latina. “Draco is a multifaceted talent who has had great success as an artist, composer, producer and entrepreneur. He has an established reputation as a musical great. We’re excited that he’s part of the SESAC family.”

Meanwhile, Draco notes that he found out about SESAC when he discovered that Bob Dylan is one of our affiliates. For Draco, this was ample proof that “this is an organization with very serious songwriters,” and made him realize that he “wanted to be here, too.”

Born on Long Island and raised in Puerto Rico, Draco experienced fame and adulation at a young age as part of the classic lineup of Menudo. Upon leaving the group in 1987, he moved to Rio de Janeiro where he worked hard to hone his talents as a writer and a musician. Later, he returned to New York, carving out a new role as a member of the alt-rock group Maggie’s Dream, which opened for such 1990s legends as Black Crowes and Faith No More. Upon concluding that project, he journeyed to L.A. to pursue interesting acting opportunities – his filmography includes a starring role in Salsa: The Motion Picture.

In ’96, Rosa released Vagabundo, which was recorded in England with legendary Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera producing. A tour de force of introspectively haunting tunes like “Llanto Subterraneo,” “Madre Tierra” and “Penelope,” Vagabundo established Rosa as a unique composing talent. Entertainment Weekly named him to their “IT LIST of the l00 most creative people in the entertainment industry.” And Spin Magazine placed him “In its 1997 Top 10 list of the greatest rock en español records of all time, and said of Rosa’s second release, “like Axisera Hendrix, Vagabundo reassures as much as it disturbs,” epitomizing “the contemporary renaissance of rock en español; a subterranean journey to the core of a man’s soul.“

Already respected as a fascinating and engaging artist, Draco in 1999 came full circle, teaming up with his former Menudo bandmate Ricky Martin to help him launch his crossover career into English-language stardom. Draco co-wrote and co-produced Martin’s legendary hit Livin’ La Vida Loca which propelled Martin’s album to No. 1 in Billboard and sales of over 20 million units worldwide. Draco also worked on Martin’s followup CD Sound Loaded (2000), producing four songs, including the smash single “She Bangs.”

Draco’s independent spirit led him to seek release from his contract with Sony. This new freedom gave way to his second Spanish only album, “Vino,” released in October 2008. Draco considers “Vino” a follow up to Vagabundo. Vino is included in his long awaited production Draco: Limited Collector’s Edition, along with “Teatro Live” DVD. “Teatro Live” garnered 2 Latin Grammy® nominations and 1 Latin Grammy® win for “Best Rock Vocal Performance”.

Draco went back to his roots in 2009 with the release of “Amor Vincit Omnia” (Love Conquers All). A collection of songs with a heavy influence of Puerto Rican folk music. The critically acclaimed album received a 2010 Grammy® nomination for “Best Latin Rock Alternative Album.”

Draco continued his career as a major creative force in Latin music, and recorded an acclaimed album of duets for 2012 release featuring his collaborations with Calle 13, Tego Calderón, Juan Luis Guerra, Ricky Martin, Juanes, Alejandro Sanz, Rubén Blades, Maná, José Feliciano, Enrique Bunbury, Andrés Calamaro, Marc Anthony, Ednita Nazario, Shakira, Romeo and Mima.

Recently, alongside Juan Luis Guerra and Rubén Blades, Draco performed a series of sold-out concerts at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

He’s also enriched the artistic and cultural life of Puerto Rico, sponsoring scholarships for the island’s Conservatory of Music. In addition, he’s founded his own brands of rum and coffee, along with a clothing line that was awarded Business of the Year by Puerto Rico’s Chamber of Commerce.

Demostrando una maestría en el arte de la composición con letras como “Llanto Subterráneo”, “Madre Tierra” y “Penélope”, Vagabundo estableció a Rosa como un compositor con un talento inigualable. La revista Entertainment Weekly lo colocó en su lista “IT LIST de los 100 personajes más creativos de la industria de la música”. Y la revista Spin lo colocó en 1997 en su lista “Top 10 de los discos de rock en español más grandes de todos los tiempos, y agregó “como Axisera Hendrix, Vagabundo tranquiliza tanto como perturba “, la personificación de “el renacimiento contemporáneo del rock en español; un viaje subterráneo hasta la médula del alma”.

Después de trabajar en proyectos de grande calibre y prestigio, en 1999 Draco se asoció con su amigo y colaborador Ricky Martin con el objeto de que éste emprendiera su carrera en inglés. Draco co-escribió y co-produjo para Martin su arrasador sencillo “Livin ‘La Vida Loca”, que posicionó el álbum en el #1 en las listas de Billboard, vendiendo la sorprendente cifra de 20 millones de copias en todo el mundo. Draco también trabajó en el álbum de Martin “Sound Loaded” (año 2000), produciendo cuatro canciones, entre ellas la exitosa “She Bangs”.

El espíritu independiente de Draco lo llevó a terminar su contrato con Sony; esta nueva libertad dio paso a su segundo álbum en español, “Vino”, el cual fue lanzado en Octubre del 2008. Mexican pop band REIK received two Billboard Latin Music Award Nominations, including Latin Pop Albums Artist of the Year, Duo or Group  and Latin Pop Songs Artist of the Year, Duo or Group.

Por segunda vez, Reik unió su talento al del colectivo El Mall, liderado por Pedro Torres para de la mano de Gustavo García y Marco Martínez, lograr un video de gran calidad visual y con una imagen moderna, en el que cada miembro de la agrupación interpreta no sólo el tema “Tu Mirada” sino un rol particular que los une para lograr la producción de un libro fotográfico .

Jesús hace su incursión en el mundo de la fotografía interprendo al fotógrafo de la historia, quien se deja seducir y enamorar por la mirada de una de las modelos que posa para el libro.

“Bibi” Marin es el creativo a cargo del look y estilo de las modelos y Julio el director de arte que junto con Jesús y Bibi, cuida todos los detalles para el armado y producción del libro, un encargo de su cliente, papel que corre a cargo de Pedro Torres en este video.

El video se filmó en la ciudad de México en los foros y estudios de El Mall durante una sesión de 19 horas.

Adicionalmente al estreno de su nuevo video, Reik se suma al desarrollo de las nuevas tecnologías y presenta a partir de hoy, una aplicación disponible en forma gratuita via iTunes para usuarios de iPhone en la que los fans podrán grabarse cantando “Tu Mirada” con ellos o ubicarlos en distintas locaciones.

Y preparan una novedosa aplicación más que permitirá a sus fans ser parte del video “Tu Mirada” y compartirla con sus amigos y contactos en redes sociales.

Además de la colaboración de estos tres grandes productores musicales, en el disco se distingue el talento en la composición de los integrantes de REIK, ya que son coautores de la mayor parte de los temas, reflejando su crecimiento y creatividad en este rubro. UN POCO DE HISTORIA:

Su éxito es constante: REIK ofrece cientos de conciertos cada año por toda Latinoamérica y Estados Unidos, ha logrado continuos hits en la radio y diversas marcas internacionales han solicitado su música para sus campañas publicitarias; aquellos tres jóvenes que llegaron de Mexicali, Baja California, hace aproximadamente siete años, han desarrollado una una carrera sólida y permanente.

REIK está conformado por Jesús Navarro (voz), Julio Ramírez (guitarra acústica) y Bibi Marín (guitarra eléctrica), tres jóvenes músicos, talentosos y con personalidad propia, atributos que les valió ganarse un lugar en la escena musical. Su sencillo debut titulado “Yo Quisiera”, les permitió sobresalir de inmediato a nivel nacional en el 2005, con lo cual el lanzamiento de su primer álbum homónimo se convirtió rápidamente en un suceso. En México obtuvieron Disco de Platino por las altas ventas de esta producción, así como en Centroamérica. Este disco también fue editado en Estados Unidos y diversos países de Latinoamérica.

Desde ese momento, REIK comenzó a ganar múltiples reconocimientos, como tres MTV Music Awards 2005 (Mejor Grupo, Mejor Artista y Mejor Artista Revelación), Orgullosamente Latino (del canal Ritmoson Latino) y Oye, entre otros. “Sesión Metropolitana” fue el título de su segundo trabajo editado en el 2006. Este CD+DVD fue el resultado de la grabación un concierto en vivo en el Teatro Metropólitan de la Ciudad de México. Este disco fue un puente entre dos álbumes inéditos.

A finales del 2006 REIK presentó “Secuencia”, en el cual combinó el pop con algunas líneas de rock; a dos semanas de su lanzamiento fue Disco de Oro. Con este álbum el grupo se consagró como una de las bandas más populares. De este disco se desprendieron los sencillos “Invierno”, “Sabes” y “Me Duele Amarte“. “Un Día Más” fue su tercera producción discográfica, de la cual sobresalieron los temas “Mi Pecado”, “Fui” y por supuesto “Inolvidable”, esta última alcanzó un éxito rotundo en múltiples naciones y se ha convertido en uno de los clásicos del grupo.

REIK fue el ganador del Premio MTV 2009 como “Mejor Grupo Pop” y el Grammy Latino por “Mejor álbum dúo o grupo” con su disco “Un Día Mas”. También ese año volvieron a recibir el premio Orgullosamente Latino (Ritmoson), además de hacerse acreedores a Antorcha de Plata y Antorcha de Oro por su actuación en el Festival Viña del Mar de ese entonces.
