When Taylor hit the UK stage earlier this year opening for T-Pain, his emphatic lyrics, ecstatic boom-baps, mesmerizing guitar riffs and percolating bass lines loudly proclaimed the debut of a powerful new artist on the global music scene.   He has enjoyed a massive online presence, with features from sites like Spinner.com to Allhiphop.com. Says Taylor: “Distributing my music free through Mininova is critical because that’s what my fans are all about: discovering the hottest new artists digitally. I think it’s important that money not be a barrier between an artist and his fans, and Mininova makes that possible.”

Erik Dubbelboer, president of Mininova added, “This cooperation shows how torrent sites and the music business can work together to stimulate music releases, build profiles for new artists, and get new music in front of the music consumer of today.”

tHe R-eVoLuTiOn oF rUnK is a prequel to Taylor’s debut album PERSONA NON GRATA. PERSONA NON GRATA includes “Girl Gotta Girlfriend” with Snoop Dogg and Bobby Valentino, which has been getting love on urban radio stations from Philadelphia to Palm Springs. Check out the single at mamstaylor.com, where you’ll also experience “United for Neda,” written and produced by Mams Taylor in response to the Iranian election crackdown last June.

Alan Jackson’s aquapalooza lake show will feature promising newcomers as opening acts

You don’t need a ticket, you just need a boat!
3,000 boats expected for lake martin, alabama ‘raft up.

Rev up your outboard, ‘cause Alan Jackson has invited newcomers the Carter Twins, Caitlin & Will, Jypsi, and Matt Stillwell  to ride the wake of his headlining spot at this year’s AQUAPALOOZA, the 3000 boat ‘raft up’ concert extravaganza that takes place July 25, on Lake Martin, AL.   Jackson, who has sold more than 50 million albums, kicked off his 20th anniversary career celebration of making Real Country Music  last month, so there was plenty reminiscing going about the good ol’e  days.  It followed that it was a fitting time to offer the opening slots to talented artists who are just starting out in their careers.

The all day event will be held in the Kowaliga area of Lake Martin which is a short drive from Birmingham and Atlanta.  Attendees must come by water!! Go to www.Aquapalooza.com for more info.

Over the course of his career, with 16 Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum albums leading up to the release last year of Good Time– Alan Jackson has become one of country music’s most respected and honored artists and songwriters.   He has sold more than 50 million albums and has more than 100 major industry awards to his credit.  Jackson is a three-time Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year and the most-nominated artist in CMA history.  A prolific songwriter, Jackson penned 23 of his 34 #1 singles, including his GRAMMY-winning Best Country Song, “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning).”
Jackson’s most recent collection Good Time (2008) became the fourth album of his career to debut simultaneously at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums and all-genre Billboard 200 sales charts.  All the songs on the album were penned by Jackson, and three, “Small Town Southern Man”, “Good Time” and “Country Boy”, have been #1 singles and a fourth, “Sissy’s Song”, became Jackson’s 50th Top l0 single.  Just last month Jackson received a CMT Award for Performance of the Year and was named by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to receive a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame.

More about:

Caitlin & Will
Columbia Nashville duo Caitlin & Will may be new to the country music scene, but the dynamic twosome are already making a lasting impression with radio and their listeners with their debut single, “Address in the Stars.”  The unique twosome – Caitlin Lynn, the feisty brunette from Baltimore with searing vocals, and Will Snyder, the unassuming guitar-slinger and smoky vocalist from London, KY – were first introduced as contestants on CMT’s Can You Duet and went on to win the competition.

The Carter Twins
Josh and Zach Carter released their first single, “Heart Like Memphis,” earlier this year and quickly secured a spot as one of country music’s fastest rising new artists on the digital charts.  With over 1.5 million MySpace plays under their belt, the 19-year-old Carter Twins have written with some of Music City’s best songwriters including Charles Kelly and Dave Haywood from Lady Antebellum and Kristian Bush from Sugarland.  The brothers are currently working on their debut album to be released later this year under the helm of Frank Rogers, Billboard magazine’s #1 country producer

Jypsi
Truly innovative country acts are a rarity, and those that emerge
from the generally traditional ranks of Nashville’s Lower Broadway are
rarer still.  However, these four extraordinary siblings ranging in
age from 18 to 27–collectively called Jypsi–are guaranteed to
deliver an explosion of color both sonically and visually when they
join Aquapoolza’s line-up while celebrating a tour in support of a new
single and forthcoming record from Arista Nashville.”

Matt Stillwell
Matt Stillwell has managed, in this age of American Idol and viral videos, to build his following the old-fashioned way–one city, one club, one crowd at a time. Now, with the release of his new CD, SHINE, and a Billboard single, “Sweet Sun Angel,” Aquapoolza fans can experience the magic that Matt brings to bear every time he steps in front of a microphone.

Colbie Caillat and timeless teen icon archie andrews ‘Fallin’ together in true comic book style

Universal Republic Singer/Songwriter Ushers in New Album Breakthrough, and Hit Debut Single ‘Fallin For You’ In Special Comic Book Edition Featuring Colbie In Fabled Riverdale.

news_colbie_archie

Perpetual teen and all-American comic book icon Archie Andrews may have sent shockwaves around the world when it was recently announced he will propose to fussy heiress Veronica Lodge in the 600th issue of the 68 year old comic book (and not girl-next door Betty Cooper), but don’t tell Universal Republic singing sensation Colbie Caillat.  The platinum-plus, award winning singer/songwriter has ‘fallen’ for the red-headed Archie in a big way, and will be ushering in her new hit single ”Fallin’ For You” and upcoming new album, Breakthrough, due out August 25th, by literally ‘fallin’ for Archie in a historic singing match-up splashed inside the pages of Veronica’s very own comic – VERONICA # 196. Despite tough competition, “Fallin’For You” has been top 10 on iTunes since its debut last week. The combustible issue features Archie and Colbie on the cover playfully readying for their musical debut together while a very wary Veronica looks on!  The much-buzzed about issue hits newsstands on September 2nd.ARCHIE&COLBIE COVER:  http://www.colbiecaillatmusic.com/archie/

The charismatic Colbie, whose breakthrough 2007 single “Bubbly” and debut double-platinum album COCO took the entire music and online world by storm, may be facing her most daunting challenge yet as she heads into fabled Riverdale.  Known for generations as the idyllic home of Archie Andrews and his Pal’s ‘n’ Gals from Riverdale High – it’s even more famous as the comedic hornet’s nest to one of the most storied love triangles in all of comicdom.  And even though Archie’s much-publicized proposal to Veronica is set five years in the future, the comic hijinx surrounding Colbie, Archie, Veronica, and Betty is most definitely churning in real time.

In the story, appropriately titled “Fallin’ for You”, Betty wins tickets to see Colbie Caillat in concert, and Veronica wants in, but Betty has already promised to take Archie!  Of course, when Veronica wants something, she doesn’t give up that easily. And wait until you see what happens when she runs into Colbie!
“Mixing it up with Archie, Veronica, and Betty and the gang is absolutely one of the highlights of my career,” says Colbie. Not to be outdone, Veronica Lodge texted us this quote about appearing with the Malibu-based superstar. “Colbie is cool. She is incredibly talented with a sensational singing voice. Riverdale hasn’t seen anyone like her since… well… me.”
Archie was…ahem…conspicuously unavailable for comment. As for Betty, she only asks that you pick up a copy or two of VERONICA#196 to see who exactly falls for who….

Colbie Caillat burst on to the music scene in July of 2007 with COCO, gaining unprecedented notoriety prior to the release of the acclaimed album as one of the emerging ‘do-it-yourselfers’ in the digital realm. Cited as the #1 unsigned artist on MySpace at the time, her unscripted rise attracted a passionate online audience across the globe. Hailed at the beginning of 2007 by Rolling Stone magazine as the music scene’s most promising undiscovered star (Universal Republic Records welcomed her into the fold soon after), her laid-back song “Bubbly” and subsequent album COCO connected with fans via a groundswell of word-of-mouth excitement that helped vault her to the top of the online, radio and video charts: The CD debuted with a record breaking opening on iTunes’ coveted Albums chart within hours of its release, scoring a Top 5 landing on its first go-around on the Billboard Top Albums chart (the song hovered amid the top echelon of the charts for months and even returned to the Top Ten for a second run in the fall of ’07). “Bubbly” hit #1 on the Triple A and Hot AC formats, garnering more than 100 million in radio audience, with her world-famous MySpace site setting record after record in online popularity, currently nearing an astounding 50 million visits by fans.

Archie Andrews in a comic book icon, as well as the most famous student to ever attend Riverdale High School. Archie entered Riverdale High in December 1941 and has been entertaining generations of fans ever since. Musically, Archie Andrews is known for his band “The Archies” featuring the talents of Betty Cooper, Jughead Jones, Reggie Mantel and Veronica Lodge. The Archies have sold over ten million copies of their hit song “Sugar Sugar”.

The Archie Comics line of comic books is one of the most successful, longest running lines in the history of the comic industry. Archie Comics are favorite reading of young people and young at heart adults. Archie Comics are published in nearly a dozen different languages and distributed all over the world. Archie Comics characters are cultural icons and the represent the best ideal of American High School life. In addition to comic books, Archie has found success on television, radio, in the music industry and in motion pictures.

Mexia releases debut single “descontrol”

They call him Mexia, a.k.a. the “Mexican Messiah.”

He’s a Latin hip-hop artist that spits nimble rhymes in Spanish, English, and Spanglish over electro- tinged beats. As a cipher-tested skateboard kid from San Jose California’s predominantly chicano East Side who cut his teeth in MC battles, and yet he’s also Hernán Hernández Jr. –who grew up watching his father and uncles perform in norteño’s Grammy-stacking version of the Rolling Stones, Los Tigres Del Norte. His first single “Descontrol” is one of those up-tempo, wildin’ out cuts that make club security and high school principals nervous with its demand to “muevelolo,” emphasis on the latter “lo.” Produced by acclaimed studio technicians the Iklectix, “Descontrol” is a rowdy club banger that bridges Latin pop, hip-hop, and electro. Mexia’s untitled debut album will drop this September!

“United for Neda”– Mams Taylor brings together iran’s superstars to protest iranian crackdown

Including Oscar Nominated Shoreh Aghdashloo.

news_moms_0107
Known for collaborating with U.S. stars like Snoop Dogg and T-Pain, Iranian-British recording artist Mams Taylor turned his focus towards his motherland this week in response to the popular movement for political freedom in Iran. His song “United For Neda” brings together Iran’s most elite entertainers, poets, thinkers, actors and singers in one harmonious voice pleading for freedom, featuring three of Iran’s most iconic singers Dariush, Satar, Morteza, and Shoreh Aghdashloo, the Oscar nominated actress from House of Sand and Fog, in addition to other notable rappers and poets.

“United For Neda” was written and produced by Taylor who also performs on the song.  Taylor and Iranian actor Shila Vosough have produced a video for the song, recorded entirely on cell phones to pay homage to the protestors in Iran who have been reporting back the dire events taking place in the streets of the country’s largest cities. The video was filmed in part during a protest in Los Angeles last weekend, where Taylor spoke.

Neda was a young woman who was fatally shot by Iranian shock troops called the Basiji on June 21. After seeing the extremely disturbing and graphic video of Neda’s death on Facebook, Taylor was moved to respond in the way he knows best– through music. He’s since spoken in front of 20,000 protesters at the Iranian-American rally in Los Angeles. His statement about the situation in Tehran has appeared on AOL’s music news page and in the NY Post.
Additional artists featured  on the song and video include Vosough, singer Sussan Deyhim, actor and poet Parviz Sayyad, Kamy R, the singer from Black Cats, Iran’s most popular singing group, rappers Kamyar & Payam Jaffari and The Kid.

Taylor’s album PERSONA NON GRATA, featuring T-Pain, Robbie Williams, Dave Navarro and others drops this fall. “Girl Gotta Girlfriend” with Snoop was just added to MTV Jams. It’s on regular rotation on scores of rhythmic radio stations across the U.S., and his online presence in hip-hop’s most influential websites has been massive. Alan Jackson to receive star on Hollywood walk of fame

Counry Boy” is performance of the year at cmt awards:
“I really admire him,” says Paisley
Jackson kicked off his 20th anniversary celebration with packed cadillac ranch show.

Country superstar Alan Jackson has been named a recipient of a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the year 2010 by the Hollywood Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce .  The Star capped a week that began with the kick-off of the celebration of Jackson’s 20th Anniversary of Real Country Music during a show at the Cadillac Ranch, and included  a CMT Award for Performance of the Year for Jackson’s “Country Boy”, the video performance with George Straight, Brad Paisley and Dirks Bentley from his special, CMT GIANTS:  ALAN JACKSON.

Jackson was chosen from hundreds of nominations by The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for his extraordinary career accomplishments and for his charitable work.   The date for the Star ceremony will be set soon, and Jackson fans everywhere will be welcome to come.

Jackson’s “Country Boy” track is one of the four hit singles from his GOOD TIME album, which has spawned three #l songs (“Small Town Southern Man”, “Country Boy” and “Good Time”) with a fourth, “Sissy’s Song” making its way up the charts.  “Sissy’s Song” became Jackson’s 50th Top 10 record earlier this month.

At the CMT Awards, Paisley and Bentley were on hand to accept the award with Jackson.
Paisley said, “He is everything that I wanted to be as a performer…you’re talking about a guy that writes his songs, knows what he is about to say and entertains.  … just thinking about the career he has had and the class that he has shown, I really admire him.”

Mams Taylor supports freedom in Iran

Tehran-born uk runk artist responds to turmoil.

Mams Taylor’s family fled Tehran and immigrated to England in search of liberty. Today his rap-punk-rock flavored music, which he calls rUnK, revolves around the idea of rebellion and freedom from boundaries, whether they are political, religious, or cultural. As protesters and authorities clash in the streets of Tehran, Mams Taylor responds to the violence with this message:

“The protest movement is about freedom. The irony of this election is that there is no democracy. They sabotaged the voting. It’s not fair and they cheated. And though Moussavi isn’t much better than Ahmadinejad, the opposition gives the youth hope. The majority of the population is 30 and younger, and they are fighting for freedom.  It’s tragic that protesters have been killed and injured, but the protests have also brought people together.  We are moving towards revolution. Iran is years behind other countries because they let religion govern their laws. How many times have we learned in England that the kings separated church and state? ‘Cause every time they mix, the results are disastrous.  We’re learning that same lesson in Iran now. I feel so blessed to have the freedom to express myself through art and everyone else in the world should have the right to express their truths through art or otherwise.”

Alan Jackson – 20 years of real country

Industry & fans come out to honor Alan Jackson for 20 years of real country music. Celebration and performance free to fans on june 10 at the cadillac ranch in Nashville, TN. Jackson’s current single “sissy’s song” is his 50th top 10 hit.

Nashville loves a good time, and fans and industry folk will have plenty to celebrate on Wednesday, June 10, at the performance and 20th Anniversary celebration of Alan Jackson’s incredible career in the country music business.  Jackson is one of country music’s biggest stars and most celebrated songwriter/performers.  For 20 years, he has been one of its most influential proponents of real country music.  This standing room only event at Nashville’s Cadillac Ranch is free to fans and invited guests.

It was 20 years ago this month that Jackson signed his recording deal with Arista Nashville, kicking off one of the most critically acclaimed and consistently successful recording careers in music, with albums sales now in excess of 50 million.  From his debut HERE IN THE REAL WORLD (1990), which produced four Top 5 hits, to his most recent GOOD TIME, which has so far produced three #1 hits, Jackson creates music with the kind of emotional turns and clever musical details that satisfy critics and fans alike.  You don’t need to look further than this week’s charts for a demonstration of his unfailing relevancy where “Sissy’s Song,” the fourth single from GOOD TIME, becomes the 50th Alan Jackson single to hit the Top 10 (and climbing) of the country music charts.

With more than 100 major industry awards to his credit, and with 18 albums and 34 #1 singles, Jackson’s career inspired CMT.com’s Chet Flippo to write, “He hasn’t lost a step on the competition. There isn’t another male country artist of any age right now who can match him for what he does best.  And that’s to write, sing, record and perform country songs of consistent high quality and relevance.”

INSTRUCTIONS:  This standing room only concert is free to the public, but space is limited.  Entrance is based on a first come, first served basis.  The line to receive a wristband for entrance begins at the front doors of Cadillac Ranch at 4:30 PM following the CMA parade down Broadway.  Doors will open at 6:30 PM.  Show starts at 8 PM.
