The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation® announced today that it is accepting applications for the Carlos Vives Scholarship from music students accepted to Berklee College of Music, who are interested in Latin music. The four year scholarship, which holds a maximum value of $200,000, will be awarded toward a bachelor’s degree.

The GRAMMY Museum® L.A. LIVE and Bulova kicked off Latin Grammy week last night at the opening of DEEP HEART: Roots, Rock & The Music Of Carlos Vives, a new exhibit at the Grammy Museum. A sold out, “An Evening With” public program was hosted at the Clive Davis Theater at the museum and featured an intimate performance from Carlos and his band and Q&A hosted by David Fricke, senior writer at Rolling Stone and the host of “The Writer’s Block” on SiriusXM Radio.

Located on the Museum’s third floor, this one-of-a-kind exhibit will offer visitors an in-depth look at the iconic career of the two-time GRAMMY®-winning and 11-time Latin GRAMMY-winning Colombian singer/songwriter who pioneered the integration of the indigenous and vallenato sounds of his country into popular music. The exhibit opens three days following the Nov. 10 release of Vives’ latest album, Vives (To Live).

The song features 22 year old urban popstar Sebastian Yatra, who has more than one billion views on Vevo and more than 500 million streams in Spotify. “Robarte un beso” is from Vives upcoming eponymously titled album “VIVES”, set for release in October 2017.

Shakira) has garnered the Colombian superstar his first-ever Billboard Music Award nomination for “Top Latin Song”. The song received “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year” at the 2016 Latin Grammy Awards, and has over 853 million views on YouTube and over 200 million streams on Spotify.

2 x Grammy, 12x Latin Grammy winning recording artist/producer Carlos Vives was awarded a Master of Latin Music degree by the prestigious Berklee College of Music at a ceremony at the GML Auditorio (Gaira Music Local, Vives’ venue) in Bogota, Colombia. The award was presented by Berklee president Roger Brown and was followed by a performance of music from Berklee students and Vives at the Julio Mario Santodomingo Theater. The Massachusetts-based Berklee College of Music is the largest private music college in the country and boasts a highly regarded Latin Music Studies program.
