“This project is a little like good mezcal,” says Toy Selectah. “Each mezcal brand comes from a specific region and you can taste the difference. Music is similar: All these artists represent where they come from.” This is proven in tracks such as “Before The Sunset” feat. “Mozart In the Jungle’s” Gael García Bernal, which premiered on Univision, and “Crazy Conscious” feat. Reggae legend Toots (& the Maytals) Hibbert, which premiered on Billboard.

“This project has been a mystical quest trying to prove that there is only one dance floor across the globe,” Lara told Billboard.

Camilo Lara is the founder of Mexican Institute of Sound (M.I.S) and has released 4 albums since its formation in early 2000. His music is a visionary mixture that flirts with electronic, hip-hop, dub, cumbia and punk. M.I.S. has performed at such major music festivals as Coachella, Lollapalooza and Roskilde. Last year Camilo curated a radio station for the video game Grand Theft Auto V. He has collaborated with artists such as: Tom Tom Club, Placebo, Beastie Boys, Morrissey and Esquivel. His music is part of dozens of films and television series, including a GRAMMY nomination for the Y Tu Mamá También soundtrack.

Globetrotter, DJ, Producer and visionary, Toy has established a hybrid sound of Latin and world rhythms. As a pioneer and essential character of the new Mexican and Latin American music scene, Toy started out as a DJ and Producer of the critically lauded hip hop outfit Control Machete. Toy is a key character in the world creating and developing the explosion of contemporary Latin genres and categories as Hip Hop and Tribal (3Ball) in México as well as reggaeton, electronica and other urban sounds in Latin America.

“El proyecto COMPASS es como un buen Mezcal,” dijo Toy Selectah. “Cada marca de mezcal viene de una región específica y distinta.
