ERIKA ENDER TO BE HONORED WITH GLOBAL ICON AWARD AT THE 2018 SESAC LATINA MUSIC AWARDS SUPERSTAR CHRISTIAN NODAL TO PERFORM

Latin GRAMMY-winning songwriter/performer Erika Ender will be honored with the SESAC LATINA GLOBAL ICON AWARD, Wednesday, May 23 at the 2018 SESAC Latina Music Awards, in Los Angeles, Calif., it was announced today by Sam Kling, Senior Vice President of Creative Operations, SESAC, Inc.  In addition, Mexican superstar Christian Nodal will perform at the annual event, which celebrates the successes of SESAC Latina’s songwriters and publishers.
 
 
The SESAC Latina Music Awards is an exciting event attended by industry executives and artists, when SESAC Latina celebrates its songwriters and publishers for their performance activity over a year.  Award presentations include Song of the Year, Publisher of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year. 
 
 
“It’s an unforgettable night of celebration and comradery honoring our biggest songs of last year,” said Kling. “And we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize the value that our songwriters bring, not just to Latin music, but to our lives and our experiences around the globe.” 
 
 
Ender’s place in the history books has been secured by her song “Despacito”, which she co-wrote with Luis Fonsi.  With its Spanish lyrics and contagious beat, the groundbreaking song has been streamed over 7.5 billion times, including 1.9 billion times on Spotify and 5.6 billion views on YouTube, and changed the way Spanish language music is accepted by people all over the world.
 
 
As a singer-songwriter, Ender has released six studio albums, and songs that she has written are included in more than 160 albums. At least 40 singles penned by Ender, have reached the top of the charts throughout the world. Ender is now tied with Mariah Carey as the female songwriter with the longest-running No. 1 hit of all time. She’s also the first female songwriter to have a Spanish-language song top Billboard’s “Hot 100” chart.
 
 
Ender was named to Variety’s inaugural Hitmakers List  and was nominated as “Secret Genius of The Year: Female” and “Secret Genius: Latin” at Spotify’s 2017 Secret Genius Awards.   She’s been featured in the New York Times, Forbes, the Los Angeles Times, Vibe, LA Weekly, CBS This Morning, ABC’s “Nightline” and more.
 
In a very short period, superstar Christian Nodal has managed to win over a huge audience thanks to his merge of mariachi and norteño, creating fans on both sides of the border.  At the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2018, Nodal received the award for Regional Mexican Song of theYear for his hit “Adiós Amor“.  He also took home the awards for Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Solo and Artist of the Year, New.  Nodal had had two #1s last year on Billboard Mexican Regional Songs chart: “Adiós Amor” and “Probablemente,” the latter featuring Spanish star David Bisbal.  Nodal’s performance was announced at a press conference at the SESAC Latina Santa Monica headquarters, where SESAC’s Celeste Zendejas, Director, Creative Services surprised Nodal with a #1 Award for his song “Me Dejé Llevar”, which reached the #1 spot on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart.

Los 2018 SESAC Latina Music Awards es un emocionante evento atendido por ejecutivos de la industria y artistas, donde SESAC Latina celebra a sus compositores y editoras por su rendimiento radial durante todo el año.
