GIN BLOSSOMS TO SUPPPORT BARENAKED LADIES ON 35 CITY TOUR

SEMINAL POP ALTERNATIVE BAND MARRIES “WORLD-WEARY LYRICS WITH EBULLIENT MELODIES” SAYS ROLLING STONE

Seminal pop/alternative rock band Gin Blossoms, whose hit tracks “Hey Jealousy”, “Follow You Down”, “Allison” and others, were ubiquitous on pop, rock and alternative radio in the 90s, will kick-off a 35-city tour beginning June 3 in St. Augustine Florida at the St. Agustina Amphitheatre supporting the Barenaked Ladies. Toad the Wet Sprocket opens the show. Artist pre-sale begins 1/23 at 10am local time, and public on-sale is 1/24 at 10am local time. For tickets and meet & greet package visit GinBlossoms.net/tour.

Gin Blossoms, wrote Rolling Stone in 2017, excel “at marrying world-weary lyrics with ebullient melodies.” Their songs remain a constant at radio today and the band continues to play them in concert at an astounding 110 shows per year.

The Gin Blossoms 1992 breakthrough “New Miserable Experience” sold over 5 million albums, was on the charts for almost three years and produced five hit singles that played on four radio formats.

Their Platinum follow-up Congratulations I’m Sorry came nearly three years later reached #10 on the U.S. album chart and produced two Top 10 singles, “Follow You Down” and “As Long as It Matters, which earned a Grammy nomination.  “Till I Hear it From You,” a Valenzuela/Wilson/Marshall Crenshaw co-write, which was the lead single on the Empire Records soundtrack, was appended to subsequent pressings of the album and was described by Billboard as “the closest thing to a perfect pop song to hit radio in recent memory”.

Their latest album, 2017’s Mixed Reality, shares the same timeless feel as New Miserable Experience; it’s packed with 15 songs, with Wilson, Leen, Johnson and Valenzuela all contributing material. And once again, the mix of songwriters results in something that has that unmistakable Gin Blossoms sound.

“We’re descendants of the Byrds, the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and Cheap Trick,” says Wilson. “All of that is classic rock, and that’s who we are, too.”

Lead vocalist Robin Wilson said, “Our 1st high profile tour was with Toad in 92. This reunion has been a long time coming. BNL are great and music fans are gonna love this show. I’d like to challenge any musician on the tour to join me in hitting every skatepark we come near. That or a game of Soul Caliber or MARIO Cart. Looking forward. Rock Away.“

“Looking forward to being on the road with old pals BNL and Toad for a great summer!” said guitarist Jesse Valenzuela said.
